Introduction
Health promotion, community health, and boards of disease prevention provide platforms that enhance disease prevention among people (CDC, n. d.). Health goals of 2020 are also the reasons for alluding to health promotion, community health, and prevention strategies. Disease prevention focuses on specific efforts which aim at reducing effects of the disease on humans.
How National Organizations Like the CDC Influence and Support Policymaking
CDC works together with CDI in finding the severity of diseases amid finding possible factors that contribute to epidemiology. CDC works in line with CDI in retrieving uniformity of disease study (CDC, n. d.). The data is vital in finding out the essential surveillance, evaluation, and prioritization of public health intervention.
The Role of CDC in Health Promotion
CDC has the role of:
- Putting science into immediate action
- Helping medical care approaches in bringing new knowledge to people concerning primary health care needs to save more lives (CDC, n. d.).
- Fighting diseases before reaching out on larger borders. It also works in detecting and confronting new germs and diseases.
- Nurturing public health and enhancing strong and well-resourced public health approaches (CDC, n. d.).
How Organizations like the CDC and the WHO Work Together to Influence Health and Healthcare Delivery
CDC works towards enhancing the fourth-millennium goal which is to reduce child mortality. The CDC target is to reduce the infant mortality rate to be much lower by 2020. CDC engages in activities in practices which improve MCH globally (CDC, n. d.). It also works towards making essential contributions to internal expertise and reducing child mortality rate and morbidity around the world.
The Current Ways that CDC is Addressing the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
CDC defines crude death rate, age-specific rate, proportional mortality ration, maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate, fetal death and late fetal death rate (Galatsidas, & Sheeny, (2015).
The Targets and Indicators Linked to the MDG
MDG has targeted eight areas that are connected to good health. The areas include; poverty, education, child mortality, gender equality, maternal health, global partnership and the environment (Galatsidas, & Sheeny, (2015). The CDC global strategies are in line with the approaches concerned with reducing mortality and morbidity rate. It also targets ways of strengthening partnerships. The third target is reducing perinatal and maternal morbidity rate.
The Progress Made Towards Attainment of the MDG
MDG has targeted vital areas like poverty has been achieved. For instance, the people living on less than $1.25 in a day have reduced from 1.9 billion in 1990 to about 836 million in 2015 (Galatsidas, & Sheeny, (2015). Additionally, the people living with hunger has significantly diminished. There is an impressive increase in primary school enrollment in MDG 2 (Galatsidas, & Sheeny, (2015). MDG 3 portrays that two-thirds of developing countries have achieved gender parity in education. MDG 4 depicts that the child mortality rate has reduced from 90 to 43 per 1000 births but has failed to attain a drop of two-thirds.
