I am a 36-year-old parent, a mother of three and joined the medical sector in 2008 upon the crash of the Michigan automotive market. As a parent and a mother, I always wanted to pursue a career that despite the challenges, it is exciting and help me impact the lives of others including my children daily. The nursing profession, in particular, became my top career priority because it helps me deal with various aspects of patients care and diversity in the routine of the career is something I enjoy. I have a CNA license and patient care technician state certification. I appreciate spending time with my family and reading together; I have also been attending Wayne county community college for two years taking classes to pursue the nursing profession, and even though it was a competitive and smaller program, it was the more comfortable alternative for me. I have also taken part in social activities like with the Girl Scouts of America as a member and an active member of my church. I have the feeling that nursing is one of the most exciting and growing careers that are currently marketable and I'm interested in making a difference in my career experience.
My philosophy of nursing is based on the ultimate care for patients using my expertise as a nurse by being compassionate and caring with the practice of respect and honesty. In my opinion, nursing is all about taking care of the emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of a patient by considering the family and green backgrounds. I believe my pursuit for practical nursing will be a significant success because I feel I have all that is required to make a competent nurse. Qualities such as patience and care, organization, open-mindedness and the fact that am a team player make me have the confidence that I'll be successful in the practical nurse program. Those qualities are some of the essential attributes to the nursing profession that help in the achievement of career success.
Even though I pursue the nursing career out of passion, some possible challenges are likely to hinder the professional success that I have to work towards overcoming. Some of the anticipated difficulties may arise as a result of compensation issues which are likely to result from regional differences. Occurrences of workplace violence, problems of understaffing or short staffing are other concerns that are potential barriers to achieving success in the practical nurse program. In some cases, long hours of work and workplace hazards are also some of the challenges that as a nurse I should be prepared to face when working as a nurse. Generally, various challenges occur daily in the nursing profession that is likely to the workplace performance of nurses. However, all that matters is how strongly the problems are faced with enhancing professional success.
Conclusion
Some of the things that motivate me to be a nurse include the experience of satisfaction that my mother feels every day by helping others in her job as a nurse is a great inspiration to me and has enhanced my interest in the nursing profession. The passion for nursing is something I grew up with from my younger age, and somehow I had the feeling nursing is what I wanted to do in my life. Over time I have also been inspired by the fact that the nursing profession provides limitless learning opportunities by interacting with various personalities such as doctors, administrators, patients, and even the different medical staff. Alongside the fact that I have always been passionate to care for others, the nursing profession also provides ample opportunity for specialization.
