Introduction
Nursing is becoming a widely spread career, considering the increasing number of health issues that come about due to poor living conditions, environmental pollution and increase in number and type of diseases. This essay aims at analyzing the view of the meaning being human, environmental beliefs, the view of the environment that human beings reside. It seeks to explain my understanding of the definition and philosophy of nursing.
Humans
One aspect of showing care to others in the society is by having humanity. Being human involves doing activities that help a person, despite being strangers or knowing them, through a difficult situation without asking for something in return. It takes people extending a helping hand to those in need in the society with the little someone possesses. It includes avoiding doing things that could put others in a compromise or trouble. Being human calls for people to treat others with the same attitude they would require others to show towards them. A human being has the virtue of mercy, desire to help, need for equality in the society. However, human beings are controlled by their different views, values, believes, close relationships with each other and relation with the surrounding environment (Donnelly, 2013). Being human involves deep feelings, attitudes, and thoughts, responses to the things in the society that measure the level of humanity in someone. People have the free will to choose whether to be bad or good to their surroundings, which shows the absence or presence of humanity inside them. Unlike any other creature on earth, human beings have souls, which makes them human. They also show the most complicated types of love relationships, and hatraed and worst forms of revenge. This aspects of growing close relationships contribute to humanity. Nurses have shown a big percentage of humanity by extending their expertise, time and knowledge to the needy people of the community, continually saving and improving lives (Donnelly, 2013).
Environment
Environment involves every single thing around the location of a person. The environment includes the trees, buildings, other people, activities, weather, and the condition of the air around people. The community has many people affected by diverse sicknesses, and others have complicated sicknesses due to poor lifestyles, which shows the kind of environment that people live. I believe that environment is the source of all sicknesses, either physical, mental or psychological. For instance, a child growing up in an abuse family environment is likely to go through psychological torture. Also, a person associating with smoking and drug environment is likely to develop chest issues (Stoddart & Evans, 2017).
The environment that people live in determines the kind of life they end up living. The systems established in a nation control most of the activities of human beings. The level of pollution, climate, and lifestyles are some of the environmental factors that define the health status of people. However, nurses have chipped in, helping the sickly, inputting safety measures, and educating nations on the safety measures to avoid developing or contracting some diseases (Stoddart & Evans, 2017).
Health/Illness
Today, the world registered the highest number of diseases and other body health complications than any other era. Some diseases like cancer and HIV/Aids have no cure, but health practitioners try their best to minimize the effects of the diseases. It is no longer safe to live the kind of lifestyles anyone wishes. For instance, people have adopted diet depending on what they like by taste, not considering the long-term effects such foods have on their health. The life expectancy of people has reduced over the years due to poor diet. Also, people develop multi-morbidity due to the failure to deal with stress in the proper ways, and their diet trends (Stoddart & Evans, 2017).
Nursing
Nursing is a profession that revolves around providing care for the sick, the old, newborn babies and nursing mothers and overall health guidance to the community. Nurses play an important role in ensuring that sicknesses don't spread through extra precautions and cleanliness through the whole community. Nurses deal with every single age group and get involved in all physical, mental and spiritual health issues, to ensure that everyone receives the best available care depending on their needs (Black, 2016).
Professional nursing is the integration of humanity, understanding of different environments, the educational understanding of health issues and the patient experience they have. Nurse aims at helping provide individualized care, providing recovery plans for different patients, administering medication and treatment to the specialized types of patients, and enlightening families and their community on the importance of healthy lifestyles and ways to take care of their sickly in their homes (Black, 2016).
Conclusion
In conclusion, the nursing profession requires a willing person, because helping someone begins with a willing heart and attitude. Nursing creates stronger relationships between the health sector and the community because they interact with patients more closely than any other group in the health section. People should show their humanity, make a better environment for every soul, and help nurses in their task of reducing health issues in the society and providing quality care for the sickly.
