Introduction
The nervous system, which is the network of cells and fiber that transmit impulse between different sections of the human body, and consist of the peripheral and central nervous system. The system is sophisticated and may be affected by several diseases or disorders. The disorders affecting the nervous system are what's known as the nervous system disorders. This paper compares two types of such disorders in terms of their effects on the nervous system, progression, signs and symptoms, and treatment.
Among various nervous system, disorders are the degenerative and Infections disorders. The degeneration in the nerves results from diseases such as Parkinson and Alzheimer which cause neuronal deaths leading to nervous system failure. Neurodegenerative disorders cause a slow reduction of sensory and perceptual functions as a result of demises of the neuronal cells (Abraham, Jagielski, Oldenburg, Augostini, Krueger, Kolodziej, & Holcomb, 2015). Therefore, it leads to lack of balancing in movement and failure in heart functions. The main signs and symptoms of degeneration disorders include headaches, loss of feeling, muscular strength reductions, memory loss, and impaired mental abilities.
Virus infections in the nervous system cause infection disorders. Viruses may cause diseases such as encephalitis, meningitis, polio, and abscess, which may then affect the nervous system. The signs and symptoms of infections in the nervous system include impaired mental ability, dizziness, and loss of sight, lack of coordination, seizures, back pain and headaches (Tisato, Gonelli, Voltan, Secchiero, & Zauli, 2016).
Infection disorders of the nerve are more severe compared to degeneration disorders. Infections disorder progress rapidly compared to degenerative diseases. Therefore, infection disorders require urgent and accurate diagnosis without which the results can be catastrophic. Neurodegenerative disorders are treated using electrical stimulation of the spinal cord (Abraham et al., 2015). This method is preferred since it does not destroy the neurosurgical tissues. Treatment of infectious disorders of the nervous system involves the use of antibodies and intravenous fluids. However, degenerative diseases seem more treatable since the method of treatment does not destroy neurosurgical tissues. Treatment of infectious disorders may lead to a long-lasting brain injury.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the degenerative and infectious disorders of the nervous system have various signs and symptoms that help to identify and diagnose these disorders to treat them. However, neurodegenerative diseases are more treatable than infectious disorders.
