Smart Objective 1

By the end of this practicum, I will provide and practice patient care to a number of pediatric patients in a nondiscriminatory and nonjudgmental manner. The care involves making assessments, administering treatments, checking patients ' responses to medications, and reporting back to other health professionals, among others. To provide the care, I will have to put in practice nursing science and clinical reasoning while evaluating the needs of the pediatric patients related to the promotion of health, restoration, and maintenance and also risk reduction. This objective is measurable the number of tests and assessments I will carry out, time spent with the patient, and the treatment given is measurable attainable and relevant in treating a particular disease that the patient is suffering from.

Smart Objective 2

The second practicum objective involves demonstrating general fiscal accountability in care provision for pediatric patients and their families. I will focus on providing nursing care to patients under established procedures, policies, or arrangements expected to improve the patient's outcome, accountability, transparency, and individual discipline. To accomplish this objective, active engagement between the patient, families, and community is required. As the work of healthcare and clinicians' staffs involves of a tireless schedule, offering maximum patient care is inefficient and increasingly complex. Though with the identity that as a nurse, provision of care is the main objective, demonstration of fiscal accountability helps majorly in improving patient care and outcomes substantially due to the active engagement of caregivers, patients, their families, and the public. This objective is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound, as it's evident with the quality improvement of patient care.

Smart Objective 3

I will use the implemented current technology and nursing informatics in enhancing the care of pediatric patients while maintaining and promoting confidentiality and safety, respectively. I will put in practice the practical informatics skills with the help of other health professionals. The use of nursing informatics will assist me in promoting patient-centered care. Utilizing nursing informatics increases the possibility of making coordination about the patients' condition. Mainly, nursing informatics grows the quality of patient care delivery as it reduces the probability of errors in diagnoses or treatment, thus affecting the patient's outcome and disease prevention.

Smart Objective 4

I will practice practical therapeutic communication skills in interacting with pediatric patients, their families, and other professional staff while maintaining relationships. As I take care of the patients assigned to me during my working period in the clinical and inpatient setting, the use of practical communication skills will be necessitated as an essential factor in the provision of quality patient care, thus boosting patient satisfaction. I will attain this objective by communicating fully, accurately, and documenting patient's responses to prescribed and nonprescribed medications, procedures, and treatments on time and clear for other health professionals; communicate the changes in the status of patients. Also, communicate deviation rationale and reasons from the patient's care plan to other health professionals. The relevance of this objective will be measurable and evident with the patient's outcome after a certain period.

Smart Objective 5

My fifth objective during my working period is to provide nursing interventions in an effective, safe, and accurate way while employing evidence-based outcomes. This practicum objective requires me to collaborate with other health professional staff for various functionalities. To achieve this objective, I will seek guidance from other health professionals about an effective approach of administering a particular treatment to a patient in case I am experiencing a problem; I will interpret and anticipate changes in the condition of the patient based on the related outcomes. I will develop and apply individualized nursing care interventions to help the patient in meeting both the intended mental and physical, mental needs. Also, I will document and report the responses of the patient to the administered treatment. I will be able to attain this objective because I know all nursing interventions.

Smart Objective 6

I will participate in a number of programs and activities which are objectified to promote nursing contribution awareness to the local communities. This objective is majorly involved in improving cultural awareness. As widely known, community or cultural awareness plays a vital role in preventive healthcare and also offers ideas of how to help society. The relevance of this objective is to assist me in assessing cultural, legal, ethical, and socioeconomic aspects that influence the health of pediatric patients to care, including disease prevention and the provision of education and awareness. I will achieve this objective by mainly aligning the nursing roles and values to the public's preferences, values, and expressed needs. This objective will increase community engagement in healthcare activities, thus assist in eliminating certain diseases, for example, infectious and STDs that may affect adolescents' individuals but is preventive.

Smart Objective 7

The last objective of my practicum II is to use self-evaluation and performance practice to improve my professional growth and nursing practice. By putting into practice all of the above mentioned six smart objectives, among others, I will be improving my professional growth and nursing practice practically by using acquired and learned self-evaluation and performance practices. On this account, this objective is SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevance, and time-bound).
