Introduction

Hospitals provide health services to the community and strive to educate the community on healthy matters despite the differences in relation to their foundation or ownership. There are two basic types of hospitals which includes for-profit hospitals/healthcare systems and the faith-based hospitals /healthcare systems. After reviewing a number of hospitals vision/mission and values, differences and similarities were seen. Within this paper, we will review some of these findings.

Three of the for-profit hospitals had closely related visions/mission and values which were mostly associated with particular patient well-being. A few examples of them being; 'Patient is first' Vision being: 'Prioritize patient health safety and offer personalized experience' another example being 'patients Den'. On the other hand, the faith-hospitals had also related mission/vision and Values which included; 'looking out for the community' 'a healthy home for all' and others such as 'healing hands' A closer look at these examples it's clear to see the differences and the similarities. The for-profit hospitals have a close connection in relation to the services they offer. They are more concerned about a particular patient, unlike the faith hospitals which are more concerned with the entire community. The for-profit hospitals intended to provide perfect care to the patient so as to retain them as their customers in case of next time they still come back to the same hospital instead of going to another hospital. This can be seen as a marketing strategy to many.

On the other hand, the faith-hospitals are concerned about the health care of the entire community. They treat the community in relation to the religious ways; the community is a family that needs to be handled as one. There is no need to separate the patients as individual as seen from their mission statements. The faith hospitals are not profit-driven, unlike the others for-profit hospitals. After comparing a few costs of the services offered in both hospitals, most of the faith hospitals had lower rates as well.

Most of the faith hospital values include; hope, integrity, excellence, compassion, respect, and acceptance. Most of these values were present in both categories of hospitals which showed what both hospitals stood for. Acceptance, for instance, was used by both hospitals to help create an environment that is free of discrimination and prejudice. This was practiced by both the profit hospitals and the faith hospitals. Making the patients feel welcome despite the race of the patient or the gender of the patients. Respect was another value which meant that the hospitals acknowledged the dignity and worth of all persons. Most of the 'for profit hospitals' had the values of respect on their top list of values so as to appreciate and respect their patients. Another common thing worth mentioning was integrity which meant committing to being trustworthy in all relationship. Both hospitals from the two categories upheld this values so as to give trust to their patients. Patients need to know that the hospital is completely honest in all its proceedings. Finally, another common similarity was the value of hope which was a value present in both categories again. The hospitals offer hope and a sense of well-being to those they served. This encouraged the patients to get well soon.

Conclusion

All the analyzed mission, vision, and values of both hospital categories imply that the main concern is the health situation of the patients. The health of the patient comes in first, and both categories will do their best to ensure the health of the patient is restored and kept in check despite the category the hospital falls.
