Introduction
Healthcare major roles include serving and taking care of the health of their clients. The life ad survival of the healthcare and the patient much relies on the service provided. Customer care service is outstanding because first, it helps in the growth of healthcare in terms of reputation. Whenever patients are treated better, they recommend others to the same healthcare (Torpie, 2014). Secondly, customer care acts as an agent of healthcare for the collection of feedback from the patients in terms of which areas or facilities they need to be improved.
Name three essential skills a nurse must have to provide the best patient care.
Nursing as a career is so demanding and, at the same time, rewarding. The essential skills to provide the best patient care include first, excellent communication skills because they are the connection between the family of the patient and the staff (Davis Boykins, 2014). Secondly, paying attention to all details given by the patient. Lastly, confidence when handling patients.
Give an example of how you apply the above skills with your patient.
Nurses need to apply the skills that they have when handling their patients. The skills mentioned above were confidence, excellent communication skills, and paying attention. First, confidence can be applied by the nurse in two ways, first not doubting their ability to deal with the patient and handle the situation through not referring another nurse to attend the patient. Secondly, keeping the patient's information secretly unless the patient's life is at risk, and the patient permits for the information to be shared. For example, a patient should share information about a girl who was sexually assaulted by his father.
The second skill is paying attention to the patient through being attentive to the details provided by the patient because a simple mistake can result in the death of the patient is the nurse was prescribing medicine to the patient. Lastly, proper communication skills by ethically talking to patients so that they cannot be afraid to describe the condition they are suffering from (Nicol et al. 2012). For example, the nurse can speak in a friendly manner to a patient who has a urinal-transmitted infection, which will help the patient disclose more information if she has other diseases such as STD.
