My application for a Masters in Forensic Science comes because of a childhood dream and passion. To ensure that I pursued my dream in Forensic Science I enrolled in an undergraduate program in biology and biotechnology along with a minor in criminal justice. Studying biotechnology ensured that I had the necessary knowledge to pursue Masters in forensic science. I know about DNA profiling and DNA fingerprinting. My minor in criminal justice equipped me with the necessary skills on crime. Examining the law enforcement and prevention through sociological aspects is what I learned while studying my minor in criminal justice. I have always had a curiosity and enthusiasm to discover the mysterious and hence, identified forensics as a field that can nurture this interest. As a kid, I was attentive to details about science. As I grew older, I came to realize that forensic science was appealing and enjoyable.

My childhood was fun and exciting as I was given freedom and opportunities to learn. My most memorable moment was the time I spent learning about the planets and the use of telescopes and microscopes. Even though I did not understand the full functionality of such equipment, the amazement was an inspiration to gaining critical thinking and discerning skills. My interests did not go unnoticed as my parents even bought me a toy crime scene investigation as a Christmas gift. The gift remained deep in my memory, i was at a time when I was only nine years old. The major disappointment was that the store recalled the toy due to safety issues. The recall happened even before I had the opportunity to open it and play with it and hence, I was left gutted.

While growing into my teenage years, there was a famous television series known as "Dateline." This program was my favorite back then and made me appreciate the world of Science. The crime scene investigations by detectives and linking up with laboratory technicians to test evidence provided happiness while watching. Solving crimes based on scientific evidence is an ethical issue, which advocates for establishing the truth to ensure justice. My dream then became to work in a crime lab.

Through the education I have received so far, I understand that Forensic Science is not only the investigation of murders. The fields of this study are broad and could be applied to multiple criminal and civil laws. My research has shed light on understanding the definitions and applications of trace evidence including DNA, the fingerprints, and other biometric evidence. The fact that a crime scene can be re-designed in a laboratory is fascinating. To be able to offer help in such a circumstance, I need the right academic qualifications. I believe that this institution will provide the best opportunity for me to turn my childhood dream into reality. Enrolling in your institution will be a dream come true. With the state of the art facilities, I will be exposed to better equipment than the toy CSI kit I once dreamed of having.
