Introduction
Product launch is a process that involves the introduction of a commodity to the market and it may include an existing element or a new one. A successful product launch leads to an increase in the sales volume and returns made by a company. Various steps that should be undertaken in the innovation of a commodity. In the present world, the occurrence of a virus pandemic necessitates the introduction of a new soap product that will help in maintaining cleanliness. The four steps that will be followed to ensure that the launching becomes successful include spotting potential issues in the market, deciding on the control measures, enacting contingency measures, and designing a tracking system.
Spotting Problems
The occurrence of COVID-19 has led to a huge demand in the market for soaps to ensure that people are managing to keep safe and clean. The surging demand has made it necessary to launch a liquid soap, for they are inadequate in the market. The competitors are likely to increase their production and innovation measures. The hierarchy of effects that will be adopted to ensure that the clients in the market are satisfied with the quality of soap they are getting will involve creating awareness and knowledge about the soap. Additionally, there is a need to ensure that the commodity meets their preferences and liking and convince them to purchase (Marquis, 2019).
Control
The next step in the launching process is selecting controls. There is a need to determine the impact and the likely damage that will be caused by the introduction of the new soap products. Some of the side effects that can arise when using the liquid soap product include skin irritation, considering that the ingredients that will be used in manufacturing the soap elements may react with the users' skin. A stinging sensation on the skin, redness, dryness, and abnormal peeling of the skin are some of the possible occurrences that are likely to arise and harms consumers' body. Another issue that is likely to occur is the problems with the distribution process (Anderson, 2017). Considering that this is a new commodity, there is a possibility that there will be cases of the commodity failing to reach the intended consumers in time, or they may lack awareness of its existence. However, these are effects that can be managed, and this means that there is a need to have a contingency plan considering that the soap will have many benefits.
Contingency Plans
Part of the contingency plans that can be adopted to manage these problems include notifying the consumer on the effects that are likely to occur when using the soap product. Additionally, there is a need to rely on ingredients that are not reacting to people's skin. Having several varieties manufactured using different ingredients is essential to ensure that the existing consumers can select the soap type that favors their skin (Blank, 2020). For the distribution problems, there will be the creation of warehouses in the different cities to make sure that the products are near the consumers and help curb the distribution problem.
Tracking System
Tracking the sales made in a month will ensure to determine if the product is performing well, or some changes needs to be made to improve the returns made. It is estimated that the sales volume will be on an upward trend of growth, and this will enable the determination of whether the soap products selling process is viable, or some adjustments should be made.
