It was revealed that autistic disorder is not infectious. Parents who took part in the study revealed that none of their autistic children had infected their siblings who do not have autism with autism. The autistic children have not infected any of their family members with the disease. However, autism can be caused by viral infection. Viruses may cause autism by infection of the central nervous system. The etiology of autism is strongly associated with genetics. Autism most likely stems from a combination of genes. However, it is worth to mention that environmental factors play a role in the phenotypic expression of autism.

4.2 Autism and lack of interest in maintaining social communication

Autistic children could only accomplish their personal needs with help from their parents and guardians. Study participants revealed that their autistic children were unable to accomplish their personal needs independently. The autistic children had to be guided and assisted towards accomplishing their personal needs. Parents of autistic children agreed that the children need supervision in meeting their needs.

There was a mixed response to the question of whether autism can be cured. 46% of the study participants believe that autism in children can be cured whereas 54% of the study participants responded by stating that autism in children cannot be cured. The study participants who responded by saying that autism cannot be cured said that they responded in that manner because the knowledge that they have gathered about autism revealed that no permanent cure for autism had been discovered. It was interesting to realize that in Wilayat of Saham, there were parents with autistic children who ensured that they kept themselves updated with relevant information about autism.

4.8 Autism and gender

The study revealed that autism is more common in boys than girls. Autism is likely to occur four more times in boys than it is likely to occur in girls. The results about autism and gender are in agreement with previous studies about autism and gender which suggest that males are more likely to be autistic when compared with females.

4.9 Autistic children and use of the toilets

Children with autism are unable to use toilets the same way that children their age do. It was revealed that children with autism struggle to do things that normal children people do without any difficulty. Autistic children may find it difficult to fit in a normal school setting. Autistic children may find it difficult to get an education that is appropriate for their condition. It was revealed that autistic children find it difficult to maintain a nutritious and healthy diet. It was revealed that autistic children experience problems when it comes to traveling independently.

4.10 Autism and fear

About 80% of the parents responded to the questionnaire by stating that children with autism have a profound fear of dangers. Studies have revealed that fear is the foundation of many of the feelings that are exhibited by autistic individuals. Most of the feelings that are displayed by autistic children such as anxiety, rage, and depression are pegged on fear. It was revealed that most parents of autistic children are anxious about the status of their children. Study participants disclosed that they experience financial problems due to the high cost of raising an autistic child. Parents of autistic children divulged that they have to grapple with social and nurturing problems when it comes to raising their children.
