Paul Farrell has listed 12 environmental "Time-Bombs" that are likely to occur in the future and require immediate attention (Farrell, 2020). The 12 listed environmental "Time-Bombs" are overpopulation multiplier, population impact multiplier, farmland, food, water, forests, toxic chemicals, solar energy, energy resources, the ozone layer, diversity, and alien species (Farrell, 2020). In the text, Farrell acknowledges overpopulation and the biggest time-bomb for America, capitalism, and the entire world. Overpopulation is viewed as a more significant threat compared to poverty and peak oil and more likely to impact global economic growth, capitalism, and modern civilization (Farrell, 2020). The paper analysis the three most critical personal time-bombs that affect my future life.
The most three significant time bombs in my life are obesity, drug abuse, and health complications. They depend on my living style as a teenager. As a teenager, I do attend parties that encourage drinking, drugs use, having sexual careless habits that pose a threat to my future health issues. Also, most of the friends use drugs to practice unhealthy practices and are likely to influence my character. Teenagers are self-abusing due to smoking, drinking, and increased cases of obesity among teenagers. They the critical time bonds due to the possible adverse effects in my adult life, such as being infertile, obese, and developing chronic conditions.
Reports on nutrition, smoking, drinking, and abuse of drugs habits among teenagers are alarming and warning the existence of a low reproducing, obese, and unhealthy generation of adults (Boseley, 2020). The issues have an impact on my life as one of the teenagers entering early adult life. A fifty of youths are overweight, a quarter smoke, and in a group of five teenagers, one teenager experiences psychological problems (Boseley, 2020). The reports give shocking results on health issues for the youths that concerns my future. Most of my diet is high in sugars and fats and has a low level of fruits and vegetables which threaten my future body conditions.
About 11% of teenagers between 11 years and 15 years have been reported to be using drugs (Boseley, 2020). Moreover, 10% of teenage ladies with an age range of 15 to 19 have chlamydia (Boseley, 2020). Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection unlikely to be recognized and destroy the possibility of having a child (Boseley, 2020). Thus, my generation will be the most infertile, most obese, and most likely to have higher adults living with a chronic condition or mental conditions in humankind history.
Therefore, specialist services are requiring for teenagers such as specific and designed education and health services that address the three-time bombs of infertility, health complicates, and drug use in adolescents. Direct actions should be formulated to counter smoking and drinking increase among teenagers. Such measures could be higher prices for cigarettes and alcohol or ban on cigarette vending machines. The quantities of alcohol consumed by the teens are of great concern, and they drink double practiced by other generations (Boseley, 2020). Liver cirrhosis is a major killer of teenagers today and is caused by alcohol abuse. It kills approximately 500 men and 300 yearly (Boseley, 2020).
Conclusion
Obesity was in the past recognized as an adult problem; however, the young generations are leading to obesity rates due to bad eating habits (Boseley, 2020). Long-term obesity will dispose of me to various kinds of illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, and heart attack (Boseley, 2020). Teenagers affected by chronic diseases have a shorter life span compared to their parents (Boseley, 2020). Therefore, as a teenager, health complications, obesity, and drug abuse are the first three personal time bombs.
