Introduction
It is clear that every country has a different perspective and attitude towards the life of a woman. In the ancient period, the woman is both a mother and a wife. She is most of the times associated with family affairs other than the issues of the public. The women are essential persons in every society and the country at large since they play a crucial role in bringing change to the community, the woman is expected to set a good example, to have good character and teach good morals to the young ones and the coming generations. Looking at the Greece and Egypt societies, women viewed from a different perspective. The woman in Greece is the homemaker, a person with the rights to marry or divorce, a person with freedom of movement, a woman is an educated person and exposed to religion. In ancient Egypt, the woman is a most respected person in the entire society with the freedom to express her thoughts without depending on the man. The olden day's women had significant roles to play, in her work, education, social life and even in political involvement.
The primary function of the ancient woman in Greece was a homemaker. Before a girl got married, she was under the custody of her father. The women in ancient Greece married at the age of fourteen years, and they were to be married when they were still virgins. The woman was not allowed to take any action against the law by herself. According to (Roemer, 2016), during that period she did not have the right to own any property, and as a result, she does not have the right to become a full citizen of the country. For a person to be a complete citizen, it depended on the amount of property that an individual had. However even though, the woman could not own property she had the right to acquire property through inheritance, dowry, and gifts from other people.
According to the report by (Ahmed, 2017)the ancient woman in Greece, was exposed to early education which comprised of cultural training. The women had the right to education until the highest level of their desire, but if the parents could not be able to secure their school fees, she was supposed to stay at home and assist with the house chores. The woman was capable of divorcing her husband at any time she felt like terminating the marriage. She had the right to cancel the wedding by getting assistance from her father or any male to represent her. The woman saw it better for her to divorce her husband other than endangering her reputation which was most important in the society. During the ancient period, the woman was supposed to work in her house regarded as an essential factor in the community.
A study by ( Abd, 2016) says the woman had the responsibility of keeping the home clean and also the place around her. The honor to the woman's husbands significantly relied on the character and hard work of the wife, sisters and the daughters. Looking at the ancient woman in the Spartan society in grace the woman had a lot of powers, and she was given a lot of respect by the community. The primary role of the woman was to take care of the family as the men engaged in the military activities. Also reported by( Teeter,2017) woman could also assume the part of guarding the state when the men were away for the military function. The Spartan woman could own properties and own their big farms in Greece. In old Greece, a woman is a person with high level of respect and good behavior which is expressed in her deed and also the modes of dressing. The ancient woman dressed well in building good action and a character of the proper modesty. She was not to wear short clothes which reveal some parts of her body.
In Egypt, the ancient woman has seen a person who was unfiltered by man. She is a person of the people and an essential person to the whole society. The woman in ancient periods regarded as a person who is Independent and did not depend on a man to control her way of thinking. Research by (Orriols-Llonch, 2016) old woman in Egypt society was educated intelligent and a person who could make her own decisions regarding her interests and the things that disturbed her. The woman also took a role in the church and had the right to worship. In Greece, the ancient woman was supposed to occupy the left side of the nave in the church.She played an essential role in the religious cults. Research by( Licht,2017) shows the ancient woman also promoted proper health and sanitation to the people in the society.
In Egypt, the old woman was also called the other half of the history as she helped in making the history of Egypt.She formed part of the transformation of Egypt and played a role in bringing changes to the country.The ancient woman was self-disciplined with the capacity to make her personal life decisions.She is not subject to even her father or in control of any man. According to(Snyder, 2017), the act of sexual harassment and prostitution was not a criminal offense nor either an issue to be dealt with by the law system. (Fant,2016) Says the ancient woman was allowed to inherit her parent's properties after they died. She also participated in the development of the country by supporting the men with their work when they were busy with military practices. The woman also worked hard by involving herself in some business and working skills, such as weaving and basketry which helped her to earn her living hence living a better life in the society.
Conclusion
In conclusion, an ancient woman is a great person in the community and the country at large.The old woman entailed a lot of responsibilities. She is the person who brings changes in the society and works hard to bring a generation which is well organized and respectable. The ancient woman is a woman of character and a person of the people who is most respected by everyone in the society. The woman plays a crucial role in the community such as making the homes and cleaning them, bringing up children's and teaching them right morals, she helps the men in doing their works for the society. Some of the times the women helped the men in rulership and guarded the states while they were away for military purposes. The woman in the ancient period has a high impact on the society, and her history was used to build the countries and the whole world to be a better place for people to live.
