Introduction
Growing up as a child was one of the most influential experiences, especially considering the changes that begun during my adolescence period. At the age of 15, I discovered the proximity that most of my friends had kept from socializing with me. On numerous occasions, I could not figure out until I noticed something was wrong with my breadth, as experienced halitosis. The situation had drowned a boundary between my teenage friends and me, who could not withstand the ordure from my mouth. Even though the halitosis condition may start at a tender age, halitosis is not only caused by diseases but also caused by dental hygiene (Al Hassan, para 3).
As a result, this reshaped the relationship between my friends and me, subjecting me to oppression and isolation, which even reduced my self-esteem. The career highly reflects on the means and ways through which I can obtain a chance to help remedy the past and help teenagers and other patients to understand the causes of halitosis and the possible means through which the condition can be treated, helping to improve their self-esteem.
Life Enhancement
Becoming a dentist remains one of my personal desire to help others overcome what I went through as a teenager. On the contrary, being a dentist is one of the best and high-paying professions that can help meet my goals. Unlike other odd jobs, where one is forced to live from paycheck to paycheck, the (Pankhania, para 9) outlines the field of the dentist as one of the lucrative and well-paying professions that can help a practitioner to improve on their financial condition. Moreover, the profession will have opened a golden opportunity for the rest of the family, as I can help teach and emphasize the need for dental hygiene, which has been a neglected factor within the family.
Additionally, it will help my family to receive my services and consultation whenever they need to, a concept that will help reduce costs. In a nutshell, the field is a symbiotic profession, where my services will bring smiles and joy to others, giving them a chance to smile in society.
Achievements
Despite the attractive salary in the field, being one of the achievements, dentists are reworded from performing complex and different oral services, knowledge acquisition is one of the best gains one can obtain from the field. Dentists diagnose and treat patients in conjunction with the patient, as well as from support from other staff members. As a result, this requires a higher level of convincing the patient to undertake different services, which requires good communication skills. As a result, the profession will help me obtain the required skills to communicate effectively with the staff members, as well as the different patients, who might require, different communication skills to explain and convince them on the outcomes of the oral services performed to them.
Despite the communication skills, there are numerous duties that I would like to acquire in the career, which include; learning how to remove decaying teeth and cavities, learning how to repair cracks, learn how to examine dental x rays, to help diagnose problems, and prescribe antibiotics. On the contrary, I would like to learn how to administer anesthetics as a way of keeping the patient from feeling pain during the procedure. Lastly, I would like to learn more about oral hygiene and how one can help prevent halitosis.
Growing Opportunity
The field of dentists is a growing opportunity, as more people require oral services and hygiene. As a result, I can see myself, climbing the ladder of success in the field, as I am so passionate about helping others make a difference in their life. With the increased passion in the field, I see myself starting my own practice from the obtained skills. Die to my first learning ability. I believe I will do my level best on this one, to help lay a foundation that will enable me to gather enough experience and knowledge to start my own practice.
Conclusion
All dentists in the US must have an academic qualification, certified by a complete four years of dental school, with a received doctorate in dentistry. Moreover, there are two distinctive types of dental doctoral degrees one can choose from, which include Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD). However, there is no difference in course work learned. In this case, a dentist with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) has similar requirements in the field compared to one with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), and vice versa. However, despite the choice of the doctorate one chooses, the school must be accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). According to Muniz, (para 14), the American Dental Association (ADA) reports over 65 accredited dental schools in the United States.
