With the shift in economic trend, which focuses on globalization, many companies and organizations have succumbed to acute employees turnover due to numerous reasons. However, lacks of appreciation or opportunity to grow within an organization have quickly driven many employees out of promising careers. Therefore, the investigation focuses on multimodal strategies and the importance of workplace appreciation and how to show appreciation for employees as a leader.

How Appreciation is Communicated

Today many employees are sensitive about their professional contribution within an organization, which makes them not only valuable stakeholders but also vulnerable in a company. The vulnerability calls on employers to devise strategies of appreciating employees for employees’ efforts in the company. For instance, in insurance industry communicating appreciation by expressing the real and genuine thought, engaging employees in significant decision making and increasing democratic relationship within the organization significantly allow employees to feel valued within the company (Fagley & Adler,2012). Regardless of the position or the duration in the company, all employees loved feeling appreciated values and cared for within the company.

Consequently, it is unfortunate that the current commercial and professional society experiences massive employee turnover of individuals with talent, well-trained and highly skilled within the industry (Chapman & White, 2019). Focusing on communicating appreciation to such populace is critical in ensuring that the company achieve its objectives and retain productive staff (Chapman & White, 2019). For instance, communicating appreciation through increasing employees’ remuneration, providing challenging task that prompt employee development and establishing conducive working condition stimulate employee satisfaction within the company (Chapman & White, 2019). When employees feel appreciated and their efforts recognized, they are often motivated to be committed to meeting the stipulated objectives (White, 2014). However, when bosses and employers show appreciation for every job well done, it boosts the morale of employees, keeps employees more engaged, and help build staff loyalty (Stocker et al., 2018).

How to Show Appreciation as a Leader

Leadership is a vital position tasked with the responsibility not only of driving the organization towards the required direction but also ensuring the employees’ well-being. Regardless of the industry, structure or level, organizational leaders adamantly depict exceptional qualities such as endurance, humility, honesty and transparency when relating with their subordinates to foster cooperation and coordination to work together (Stocker et al., 2018). As a leader, it is essential to ensure the satisfaction of workers irrespective of their position to guarantee their cooperation and loyalty to the company. Retaining the trust of employees is often paramount to stimulating employee engagement, which has contently been a challenge in many contemporary organizations.

Moreover, a leader can show appreciation to employees by availing opportunities that would enable them to exploit their talents and professional skills, which are often underrated in many companies. In life assurance industry, communicating with clients that may or may not have a different pre-existing condition on covering their loved ones in a time of difficulty and tragedy require exceptional skills or talents to make such clients feel cared for rather than view the insurance company as an opportunist (White, 2014). A great leader understands the importance of such employee talents and viable strategies to exploit them to motivate the employees to give their all (White, 2014). Like Hebrew 12:1-2, denotes, leadership encompasses massive endurance and humility that all leaders must possess to enable them to attains their stipulated goals. The Holy Bible establishes a platform that equips leaders with relevant knowledge and skills on motivating employees to make them feel appreciated, values and cared for within an organization. Through proper appreciation and motivation strategies, leaders can achieve specific objectives such as reducing the employee turnover, improving productivity, positive corporate culture and job satisfaction (White, 2014).

Conclusively, employee appreciation is fundamental to organizational advancement due to the essential role that all employees play in ensuring the company attains its stipulated goals. While losing talents, highly skilled, knowledgeable and experienced employees may be detrimental to an organization, promoting viable appreciation strategies such as increased remuneration, conducive working environment, increased involvement in decision making, and redistributing challenging tasks that elevate employees’ abilities is vital to guarantee stability. Employees love having job security, which allows them to operate without fear of being fired or denied opportunity in case of professional mistakes. Therefore, as a leader, developing a positive working environment that inspires mutual respect, endurance, cooperation, and transparency would significantly propagate employee commitment, smooth operations within the company, and high consumer satisfaction.
