For the first time since the year 2006, the cases of three nationally notifiable STDs have been reported, i.e. gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia. This was revealed by the data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and prevention. More than 1.4 million cases since 2013 have further explained that, the chlamydia cases have even risen, whereby, out of 100000 population at a rate of 456.1 cases have been experienced.
There are various ways in which the STDs has globally speeded. One, sex between men who have sex with men has been experienced since the year 2000. Actually, in 2014, high rates of P&S syphilis steadily increased among MSM, out of which about 83 percent of cases that were reported were among men immediately the sex of the partner is known. Concerning that, almost more than half of MSM were also diagnosed with syphilis, in the year 2014, they were as well reported to be HIV positive.
They were also able to discover that sores on the genitals were also being caused by syphilis infections which later renders a high possibility to get transmitted and acquire HIV. Moving further, recent CDC preliminary data that was released for 2017, 555608 cases of gonorrhea and about 30,644 cases of primary and secondary syphilis were also reported. How worried people should about these infections
The fact around these three diseases is that, they are bacterial infections thus making them easy to treat. However, through the use of recommended antibiotic resistance, these bacteria have managed to evade drugs meant to kill them. Notably, the bacteria meant to cause STIs are no exception. This was according to the research done by the World Health Organization, whereby, they were able to prove that, increasingly gonorrhea is developing more resistance to antibiotics.
Other than that, the chlamydia also tends to be universal, and soon it will also evade pharmaceutical interventions. Apparently, both gonorrhea and chlamydia usually are asymptomatic and may cause pain and infertility if not treated. Concerning these diseases, syphilis is still very easy to operate either with first or old penicillin. It has also been proved that, the occurrence of more infections offers more chances for the disease to develop resistance. Therefore, this is the most troubling infection according to a report by CDC 2016.
Conclusion
To be careful enough, congenital syphilis looks to be a terrible disease. With syphilis untreated during pregnancy may in return cause miscarriages making the fetus to die immediately after the birth. While those who survive to end up suffering from disease such as anemia, jaundice, and meningitis among several others.
