Introduction
Coronavirus has become the recent most infectious disease globally, affecting most people and claiming life within a short period. The pandemic has halted global economic growth and development as a result of lockdown and curfew issued by the federal government in the process of fighting against coronavirus pandemic of which is likely to subject global economies into recession. The purpose of the paper is based on COVID-19 cases confirmed in North Carolina and the United States.
Status of COVID-19 in North Carolina and the US
The United States is the most affected country with the highest number of confirmed cases and its cases increasing starting from 3rd March, 2020. According to statistical data by live Science on 16th April, 2020, regarding the total number of confirmed cases and deaths of COVID-19 in the United States is at an alarming rate with at least 644,188 confirmed cases. It also indicates that at least 52,629 people had recovered after treatment, and at least 28,579 had died as a result of the pandemic. There is a high possibility of a total number of confirmed and death cases to be high since not all cases are recorded.
According to Bryner (2020), North Carolina had reported 5,123 coronaviruses confirmed cases of which at least 117 had succumbed to death as a result of COVID-19 infections, and at least 431 victims are currently hospitalized. It positions Northern Carolina position 20 on the list of United States COVID-19 cases according to the result established by the Department of Health and Human Services Website (DHHSW)(Bryner,2020).
Response and Opinion
Based on the above-stated figures, the status of COVID-19 in the United States and North Carolina is not most appropriate, and the digits might be higher than predicted since there is a possibility of other cases not being recorded (Live Science, 2020). Besides, not all people visit healthcare due to challenges related to accessibility to treatment.
Coronavirus outbreak started in China, and by 9th March, 2020, the country had reported at least 3000 confirmed deaths, which translated to 74% globally. Still, the figures dropped down to 58% and 40% globally by 13th and 18th March, respectively (Live Science, 2020). By the end of March, China's cases dropped down to 10% global cases leaving the European country the epicenter of COVID-19 pandemic (Live Science, 2020). In reality, based on the US reported case, China's decline is suspicious.
Conclusion
In conclusion, based on these figures, I don't think these figures are the most appropriate cases based on the rate of decline of cases and how China's managed to cut down the spread of Coronavirus within a short period.
