Introduction
Abortion is the process of terminating a pregnancy by removing the embryo or fetus. It is a very controversial issue with a lot of argument because it is a case of life and death and the uncertainty of complication makes it even harder. Accessing safe and legalized abortions is regulated under a country's law, and the states permitting abortions have made sure that abortion is accompanied by clear rules that firmly limit accessing the services of safe abortion (Cosentino, 2015). This can be attributed by improper regulations, health services, and the absence of good political drive. This essay purposes to develop a strong opinion in supporting abortion as a woman right because legalizing abortion is better than banning it.
Banning abortion makes women carrying unwanted pregnancies to practice unsafe abortions that lead to severe health problems such as female sex organs infections, uterine perforation, losing fertility, and even death. Banning abortion does not prevent the occurrence of the unsafe practicing abortion leading to the death of women. Research shows that unsafe abortion practices are higher in nations that restrict abortion laws; hence the mortality rate is high in those countries.
Pro-choice groups supporting abortion as a women's right have recommended several arguments concerning the debate. The first argument states that women should possess the moral right of making decisions about the problems regarding their bodies because there is no person with the right of dictating the conditions of how people should handle their bodies. Thus, it is necessary for the lawmakers to identify this distinctive right that belongs to women and allow them to make decisions which are convenient to their bodies. The second argument that should be acknowledged is that the right to abortion is vital for women to enable the attainment of their life goals. This is because women too have goals they aim to attain within their lifetime. It is unjust for anyone to prevent them from achieving their goals like accessing quality education, exploiting their dreams, and career accomplishment. It is very reasonable to abort the unwanted pregnancy that can prevent them from attaining their lifetime dreams.
The third argument is that prohibiting abortion causes more harm than good to them as it makes them depend on dangerous abortion methods which can kill them. It is not reasonable for state officials to prohibit abortion without providing mitigation measures for unwanted pregnancies. The government should seek suitable techniques to tackle the problem of abortion without limiting the facilitation of abortion services. Lastly, the fourth argument that pro-choice abortionists are that the women's right to performing the abortion must be incorporated into the portfolio of legal rights for the employed pregnant ladies. This would help the women to make decisions on keeping or terminating a pregnancy independently.
The pro-choice activists fighting for the women's rights do not make assumptions on the significance of the fetus's life in a woman's womb. On the other hand, the activists recognize that the selection of carrying out abortion for a woman is better than all other probable courses of action. It is essential for pro-life abortionists to make considerations that the argument on abortion distress women in an inconsistent behavior about the male participants of the community. Ladies are subjected to the challenges linked to abortion including emotional suffering, guiltiness, and potential health difficulties. Consequently, abortion is an essential trait of women's rights both at a personal level and at the gender level after deciding to perform an abortion (Quadagno, Jill, and Suzanne Staggenborg, 2014).
Pregnant women are associated with a lot of psychological effects because the pregnancy interrupts the education, job, life of their whole families, and changing their body shapes. Also, the impact of pregnancy on ladies is enormous because it needs to be handled as a matter of vital concern by the lawmakers. Women must be given the freedom and the right of choosing whether to keep the pregnancy or end it. Even when the women are granted or denied the right to abortion, they are supposed to make a critical decision concerning their lives. Women are encouraged to act in a manner that their choices play an essential role in their lives for the sake of their freedom and the accomplishment of equality in the community dominated by males. When the law commands that the fetus has the right to live right from the time it was conceived, then the idea of rationality and morality stops to succeed, and the lady carrying the fetus has no choice but to oppose the law's decision to favor her.
The community makes considerations on the capability of people to control their bodies individually as a moral right. The women denied the right to abort is equivalent to the deprival of that right. The pro-life activists must recognize that women have the ethical right above their bodies. Women have the entire right on whether to abort or not because the fetus is developed in their wombs.
