In some cases, placebo could have worked but people chose to get medication under be the belief that the medicating works. People have developed habits for taking pills even in the slightest feeling of sickness.

Very little is known about the adverse side effects of most drugs. A lot of research is still needed to properly understand the potential side effects of drugs apart from the mentioned side effects/. Often times, other side effects of some drugs are discovered over ten years after drugs are produced. Some drugs are highly toxic despite offering life savings solutions.

Drug production is like a lottery as most of the discovery is based on trial and errors whereby drugs are screened and tested before they are finally produced for the mass market. However, even though the drugs might be effective, they have chemical components that have adverse effects on the users in the long run. Some drugs are discovered by accidents to have effects on some diseases. However, they are also other medical properties that are yet to be discovered, while the drugs discovery is helpful, people get hooked to the drugs and have to merely on the drugs to achieve a specific quality of life which makes them addictive.

There are several alternatives to using polypharmacy but the most important and effective alternative is lifestyle changes. Many people fall sick not because they live in dangerous places but because of their lifestyles. A case in hand is diabetes and high blood pressure. In most case, it is what people consume and how people live that determine their health outcomes. Those who lead sedentary lifestyles end up paying hefty prices for their poor lifestyles when they develop obesity and high blood pressure. In most case, people seek forward to correct their medical conditions with pills rather than changing their lifestyles. There are a lot of educational materials that prove the relationship between lifestyles and health outcomes which means that we have the power to choose our health outcomes.

The natural allopathic medicine can also be effective as they are just supplement that would help the body to heal itself. The body has the capacity to heal itself if allowed but the fact that people rush to medication to heal faster means that they have to over-rely on medication for all symptoms. Polypharmacy is a modern day's phenomenon as individuals focus on taking different medications for a different ailment. In the end, the person is overmedicated lead to drugs resistant strains in the bodies. In some instances, individual find their immunities weakened as a result of polypharmacy which means that they have to take drugs in incremental dosages as the diseases become resistant to lower dosages. In condition, lifestyle changes and sober choices are more effective than polypharmacy
