Introduction

One of the greatest gifts in this life it's said to be the act of giving. My previous experiences in the healthcare field have proven this to be true. Usually, it is surprising to see how teamwork of many distinct people in distinct roles comes together so as to better the outcome of the patient and enhance the current modalities of treatment. Mostly, nurses play a significant role while working alongside clinicians and other healthcare professionals in ensuring patients receive both palliative and preventive care before, during, and after medical examinations. The nursing role being the major impact on patient care and comfort, I have always been inspired and passionate by the professional, and submitting this personal statement of a registered nurse will give me an opportunity of gaining additional skills that will take my nursing career to the next level.

For the last few years as an assistant nurse, I have honed a strong passion for the field and the myriad of various specialties that nurses can have. Throughout my working, I have been lucky to be accountable in different sectors of the nursing field. I have mostly been able to monitor and take the vitals of the patients as I assess their health status. Whenever necessary, I have been able to administer drugs and provide vaccinations. I have also learned to give outreach and medical education to the surrounding individuals, especially on seminar programs that involve screening.

Additionally, I have had the opportunity of shadowing some nurses on their daily rounds, especially new interns, hence enabling them to learn more about different accountability that nurses usually undertake. I have had the opportunity of even working on the labor and delivery ward, as well as in both intensive care and full-term nursery. Although sometimes it has been emotional and stressful, the rewards have been great, especially seeing a family taking a healthy infant home. I have much enjoyed the nursing role of caring for patients and even getting to the point of knowing them individually. This has greatly prepared me for success in graduate school and as a future leader in the field. I hope through this certificate program, it is something I will continue to do in the future as a registered nurse.

With the mission of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, I consider myself fit due to my academic preparations and motivation. I have a three-year program in BSN, and my GPA points were average. My one-year internship that consisted of at least 30 hours per week acted as excellent preparation for my nursing career and my graduate program. My coursework that has reinforced the concept of human medicine and biology has acted as a major key to fit me in the graduate program. Through my research experiences, I have also been able to explore advanced concepts in nursing, which makes me feel I am fit for the master's program. My motivation for pursuing graduate study at UC Davis is the need for advanced practice nursing licensure and getting into greater responsibilities in my career path. Also, taking the program will increase my professional skill making me competent at the end. My interest in the graduate program is entering into an area of specialization that I enjoy. This will increase my entry-level of earnings and enable me to reach my career goal of enjoying what I like most, helping and taking care of patients. Additionally, I am fit for the graduate study due to my experiences from diverse specialists of nurses. Due to that, I can have a significant concentration in my area of focus.

Master of Science in Nursing and Health-Care Leadership will help me achieve my goal of being a competitive candidate in administrative or managerial positions with better working conditions. Also, I will be able to achieve my goal of being a mentor, especially to new nurses. In relation to the vision, mission, and core attributes of Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis, my future goals in the program will be to ensure optimal health and equity for all. As part of my goal, my mission will be to become a leader involved in advancing health, transforming it, and igniting bold changes either locally or globally. Significantly, my goal will be to ensure interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration to empower quality patient care. Also, my goal will be to create an innovative culture where there is advanced research, education, and improved medical practices on patients. Therefore, advancing my degree at UC Davis is an excellent opportunity for me to take the next step towards becoming a registered nurse who can serve others in my community by ensuring there are comfort and care in the clinical setting. It will be a great joy to apply the knowledge and techniques I learned from the program for my future role as a registered nurse in the healthcare setting. As a result, I will become a competent registered nurse who is able to give compassion and clinical treatments to patients in the future.
