Introduction
Faith-based nursing refers to the nursing activity which cares for the members of a particular faith. They integrate faith and healing to promote the wellbeing of the faith society they serve (Preston, 2018). This paper will review their contribution to national health objectives and how their partnership with the community nurses could help promote national health objectives.
The parish nurses are involved in various activities that promote the national objectives. These include providing patient-centered care for the personnel like the spiritual leaders. They also participate in providing counseling services and spiritual guidance to the patients, promoting mental health (Anaebere & DeLilly, 2012). Parish nurses are also involved in research and development to improve the benefits to the patients and contribute to preventative health as well as health maintenance.
Nursing is a field that demands partnership at all levels to improve care delivery. A such, the community-based nurses and the parish nurses can partner in forming support groups (Eastern University, n.d.) for mentorship and guidance. They can also partner in visiting members of the society in general to offer counsel on health and medical issues (Staff Writers, 2017). The two groups can volunteer in various community-based services, such as caring for the environment.
Through this partnership, the nurses benefit in personal growth and group development through peer-mentoring within the support groups. Visitation will improve the interprofessional relationship and the relationship with the patient, making them better understand the patient for quality healthcare delivery. Participating in community-based projects enhances the environment, and it is an opportunity for them to create better teamwork.
Conclusion
In conclusion, nursing is a noble profession whose contribution to society is impactful. Parish nurses offer care services to the community members in the churches, particularly the church leadership. Their contribution to the national healthcare objectives is thus felt at that level, mostly. It is essential to create a partnership between the community nurses and the parish nurses to promote mentorship, research, and social responsibility.
