Introduction
Preterm commonly known as the premature birth occurs when the conception is below 37 weeks. Notably, an according to world health organization 2010, Preterm is a global phenomenon as about 15% of children born each year at this state with frequent cases witnessed in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. It is imperative to note that, certain predisposing factors such as a magnitude of pregnancy either twins or triplets and other health complication may cause preterm. On the other hand, early pregnancy, drugs, and substance abuse also present the major predisposing factors to the preterm condition. Significantly, though a smaller number of premature babies survive to maturity, there are often faced by several health complications rendering them a handicap.
On the same account, the preterm infants require proper maintenance outside the mother's womb in designated artificial incubators to generate the needed warmth for adequate growth. The casualties due to premature births poised a more significant challenge in the entire healthcare system and therefore require rapid attention to help save the vulnerable pregnant mothers. The expectant mother needs healthier weight, regular prenatal check up to ensure close monitoring through the pregnancy period. On the other hand by employing active campaign awareness to enlighten the pregnant mothers to avoid using drugs while during pregnancy periods. Similarly, by treating the chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, protection against the common infections' as well as voiding stress during the pregnancy periods can help reduce the cases of premature birth among the population. The feeding of premature babies is less common in the public domain, but it only follows the normal cup feeding, not in full units. Besides, the feeding may also require a mother's breast milk and formula, but all must be under regulation. It is also important to note that, the weight gain in the preterm babies is much slower as compared to the normal ones though they require continuous check-up. The health condition of the preterm babies is considered complicated and therefore proper attention should be accorded to them. More importantly, the weight of the child at birth has a greater contribution to the child's survival rate. Significantly, the preterm babies born below 5oog are likely not to survive based on research, this is a clear indication that close monitoring is necessary to this particular category of the infants. Tentatively, most of the preterm babies are likely to experience learning differences though many have the chance to keep up with the other peer. Certain health complications characterized by preterm babies involve their respiratory systems, Intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) as well as jaundice and anaemia. On the same account, the preterm babies tend to experience several challenges with regards to the developmental stages. The health condition is more prevalent in contracting some major health complication such as cerebral palsy, visual and hearing impairment alongside poor health growth. The lifelong effects may also be experienced as the babies are generally prone to behavioral, socio-emotional problems which are attached to the learning difficulties. Significantly following the statistical analysis globally, one out of ten pregnancies ends up in preterm birth with a higher percentage occurring mostly in Africa. This is a clear indication of the premature birth a universal health concern that requires rapid global attention in the medical field. Research indicates that for effective management of the preterm babies, a little more attention should be accorded to them as compared to the normal ones. The constant treatment with a suitable antibiotic is critical in ensuring proper maintenance of physical status. On the other hand, good pregnancy care with regular antenatal visits helps prepare the mother psychologically in case of premature birth.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the premature birth often subjects the entire health sector into great challenge mostly on how to prevent the casualties. Proper care to the pregnant mother along with constant education on positive living can help minimize premature births in the population. However, in case of premature birth, appropriate attentive care must be taken to enhance survival of the vulnerable infants
