Introduction
The aspect of vaccination reflects to prescribing an individual antigen substance commonly referred to as a vaccine. Vaccines are mandated to boost an individual's immune system and also create adaptive immunity for a given pathogen. Vaccines comprise of targeted disease components. In measles, the measle virus is incorporated within the vaccine content. For bacteria virus, the disease bacteria are included in the vaccine (Olson, Young & Schultz, 2018). Immunizing an individual weakens the target disease causal agents hence preventing the victim from getting sick. It can be argued that., immunization assists in ameliorating or averting mobility towards a particular disease. A necessary vaccination is provided to secure infants and emerging youths when they are highly susceptible as well as when they have not been exposed to a deadly disease.
Most individuals are not likely to surpass the importance of immunization. There are certain immunizations needed for the adults, which are defined by previous vaccinations, age, lifestyles, and the high-risk area which needs restricted travels. Health promotion is therefore meant to create necessary awareness for individuals to help regulate body health through using the essential aspects, which later leads to improved health to the target group (Raingruber, 2019). The immunization process suggests health-promoting activity by enabling the target population to raise their health control as well as the major contributing factors.
Health Belief Model (HBM)
Every individual is eligible for getting a vaccine-preventable infectious disease. Taking an example of Hepatitis B, polio, influenza, and other deadly diseases, it is evident that any child should get the necessary vaccines at different stages. Children are also vaccinated to avoid getting genetically transmitted infections such as Rubinstein and Soto's Syndrome from their parents. This suggests that everyone is susceptible o vaccine-preventable infection depending on the underlying factors as predisposing to high risk, genetic inheritance, lifestyle, and age. Vaccine development to reduce the impact of such diseases is therefore critical since it helps in preventing reappearing of certain epidemics such as measles and influenza.
It is observed that at least 4 out of 10 individuals getting paralytic polio have high chances of dying while the surviving victims become permanently impaired. Timely vaccination is guaranteed by giving children the necessary immunization, as indicated in the immunization schedule assigned to parents during birth.
Parents are given immunization schedules on giving birth to ensure the babies are vaccinated timely. Unless there is an outbreak that requires the government to conduct a door to door immunization campaign, parents will immunize their children in the local hospitals. Immunized children have increased chances of survival and subsequently contribute positively to society.
Proposed Solution
To address the issue of vaccination schedule adequately, it is essential to demonstrate to the parents the available protocols provided in the vaccination schedule from the initial stage of birth till the children become 18 years of age. By carrying out the necessary informed consent to the parents, they will develop the essential preparedness on whether to consider vaccination. The schedule for the vaccine is provided according to CDC guidelines. At birth, the protocol indicates that vaccine for Hepatitis B to be administered at birth. Two doses are then administered when the child is aged between 2 and two months later. Vaccines for influenza are then managed at three dose intervals through a combination of initial dose and accompanied booster at 12-15 months of age. Raising awareness of the importance of such essential immunization requirements is therefore crucial.
Goals of Immunization
The purpose of immunization is to eliminate contagious maladies. Vaccination is carried out via vaccines, and they are the best preventive resources against infectious diseases. Another objective of treatment is to strengthen childhood immunization, which is limited to several diseases such as diphtheria and polio, among others (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2017). According to centers of disease control and prevention, immunization saves an average of 33,000 lives annually. A study carried out in the USA show that there is a spectated death of 42,000 adults and 300 children due to lack of immunization (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2017).
Participants and Interdisciplinary Approach
For the success of the immunization, awareness can then be conducted to all the people. The information can rely on upon via different forms such as multimedia and social platforms, newspapers, magazines, among others bearing the vaccination notices (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2018). If the information is transmitted correctly, it would be useful, and all the people would be willing to take action. Other forms of encouraging the activity to last would be via motivating the people of the higher purpose they would be doing in partaking in the immunization.
The older adults would be given the immunization manuals and let them make their decisions. The manuals would be having information such as the type of disease being vaccinated against and to whom it would be administered. It would describe the age of the participants. Mandatory vaccinations should be done to any individual after they have been exposed to tetanus (Augustine, 2017). The people would be allowed to ask questions for clarity. An example of an item could be why a person gets a fever after the immunization. The answer would mean that the person needs medical assistance. Follow up activities after the vaccine, such as making phone calls to parents, would be implemented.
The younger adults and mostly the couple who would be expecting their firstborn child would be advised on the importance of immunization to the baby once it's born. They would be taught the rights concerning vaccination and immunizing the baby. Based on a study conducted in the rural places of Mohallas concerning immunization of 450 toddlers aged between 12-23 months, it was proved that vaccination had been taken seriously (Barnby, 2020). Information about its importance had been explained, and people had also taken note. The results showed that 62.7% of the total population sampled had been vaccinated, and less than 12.9% of them were yet to get treated (Robinson, Romero, Kempe, Pellegrini & Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, 2017).
Conclusion
Immunization is a vital component when it comes to ensuring and strengthening the immune system of all individuals. As observed, not all people have private information about its importance. Therefore, much emphasis should be put on spreading information about vaccination.
