Background Information
Throughout the world, education has become a crucial aspect that brings new ideas and skills to society. Currently, countries such as Dubai have highly invested in education through the introduction of technology systems, which enhances teaching and learning (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). In which, private schools have been associated with the lead institution in the technology application, and this has attracted a large number of students. The success of these advanced systems has been enhanced by good educational leaders within the sector (Bartlett & Bartlett, 2016). Most of the leaders have been associated with a positive attitude, which has boosted the rate of technology introduction in schools. According to Baran et al. (2019), about 74 percent of all leaders, especially in private schools, believe that technology is a crucial aspect that improves both teaching and learning. As such, the application of the internet has improved the rate at which teachers integrate with students.
Usually, the education system in Dubai is regulated by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education and Knowledge and Human Development Authority. These authorities are mandated to formulate the curriculum system that students are supposed to follow (Goodchild & Speed, 2019). Technology application has become a crucial aspect the sectors are trying to introduce in the curriculum system (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). As such, the authority sectors have established strategies and policies that boost the application of technology in the teaching and learning program (Bartlett & Bartlett, 2016). The success of technology application is bounded on how educational leaders within the country embrace the system.
In the past few months, the world has been in a standstill due to the rising cases of COVID 19. Due to the virus spread, schools have been closed, and students are spending their time home (Yang & Baldwin, 2020). Through the application of technology, it could be easier for the country to continue with its learning programs. Students could be accessing learning materials through the application of computers and other technology devices. In the same way, assessing materials could be shared through the internet, and therefore, the approach could reduce the time that would be wasted for education before the world manage the epidemic (Ali & Equbal, 2020). Some of the institutions, especially private schools that have already adopted technology in learning programs, are still continuing with education despite the closedown. Students who have access to technology will show positive outcomes when the learning programs resume normal (Yang & Baldwin, 2020). On the other hand, students who will face a challenge in accessing education materials during this period, it will become hard for them to catch up with those who have been learning. As a way of closing the gap, educational leaders are required to introduce the technology system in all learning institutions. According to the education quality control with the country, students who have access to learning technology have been associated with good school performance (Yang & Baldwin, 2020). The approach has helped in the creation of meaningful education in society.
The Objective of the Study
- To identify the role of technology navy in future schools in Dubai.
- To determine the impact of technology navy in the growth of education in Dubai
- To illustrate the role of educational leaders in the establishment of technology navy in schools.
The Research Questions
What are the new responsibilities of the educational leaders during the implementation of the technology navy in future institutions in Dubai?
What approaches can educational leaders learn from private schools in Dubai that have already adopted the technology navy in their learning program?
Statement of the Problem
The application of technology navy in schools has been associated with the growth and improvement of the education system. Due to a lack of a better approach and policies, most institutions have not managed to embrace the technology navy. In this case, educational leaders have not fully embraced the system due to a lack of better procedures and action plans (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). Despite some strategies set toward the application of the technology navy, there is a little approach that educational leaders have done to its success. As such, the lack of a better leadership system is perceived as a key challenge that hinders the establishment of technology in the country.
Significant of the Study
The research is significant because of the scarcity of studies on the topic in the Arab World. The region may gain a lot of knowledge and information on the application of technology navy in the education system (Bartlett & Bartlett, 2016). As such, the study will offer recommendations and approaches that could reinforce the role of educational leaders in the application of technology navy in Dubai's future schools. The approach may provide a background understanding of how technology enhances the attainment of quality education (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). For many years, the government of Dubai has been striving to improve the quality of education in the nation. Hence, the study will influence educational leaders to introduce a new culture that emphasizes a high level of technology in the teaching and learning program. Furthermore, educational leaders will use the research to understand some of the barriers that have been hindering the application of technology in learning institutions, and how the approach has improved learning in schools that have already adopted the new system (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). As a way of changing with society, technology application has become a crucial system in all sectors. Hereafter, education is one of the sectors that can highly benefit from the introduction of the system. Most of the private schools, which have already adopted the technology system, have portrayed high performance. Education leaders are required to introduce the technology system to reduce the gap that exists between institutions that are using and those that have not adapted.
Literature Review
The application of technology in learning and teaching programs has made the process appear simple because it simplifies access to educational materials. Currently, most regions in Dubai have access to electricity, and this makes it easier for students to use tablets, smartphones, desktops, and laptops (Bartlett & Bartlett, 2016). A teacher can share learning materials through the internet, and students can access them on their devices. Additionally, the application of technology in education programs has been associated with the improvement of learning experiences (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). Usually, modern technology assists teachers to introduce more creative and innovative ways of teaching, which attracts learners to fully engage in their learning programs (Holt, 2015). The creative approach has assisted in holding the learners' attention, which improves learning performance (Tech, 2017). As a way of enhancing the attainment of learning objectives, educational leaders should introduce new policies that encourage the application of technology in the learning system.
Due to different learning capabilities, the application of technology gives learners a chance to learn at their pace. The approach ensures effective learning since students are given a chance to engage in research to boost their understanding (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). For instance, slow learners are given an opportunity to slowly review the learned lessons, and in case of need, it is easier to collect with the teacher (Basyouni, 2019). Technology provides a flexible and accessible way of learning. A learner can access materials from the library or website in different locations (King et al., 2011). In regions where schools have already moved into digital systems, learners have been given an opportunity to engage in different concepts such as innovations based on their talents and abilities.
Research Methodology
Data Collection Method
The research will rely on primary data, whereby the data will be collected through the questionnaires. A simple random sampling will be used for the selection of participants for the study. The technique will ensure all schools within the country have an equal opportunity for selection. The questions in the questionnaires will be sent to education headquarters, whereby several individuals will randomly be selected for the research. The questionnaire will be based on 20 questions, in which both close and open-ended questions will be used. A total of 10 participants will be engaged for the study and an equal number in gender selection. Additionally, the research will engage both private and public schools within the country. The approach will follow an interpretivist paradigm, which focuses on how human behavior affects their daily life. The data will be presented in a tabular system, whereby a Likert scale will be used to group the questions. The sorting approach will provide a clear way that will assist in data analysis.
Data Analysis
As a phenomenological study of educational leaders' attitudes, a quantitative questionnaire will provide background data for the research. All questions will be categorized using a Likert scale. The answers will be arranged according to how they appear on the Likert scale. The approach will provide background information, which will be used in responding to the research question. As a way of enhancing data assessment, the study will engage the SWOT analysis, which will assist in the elaboration of various answers provided by the participants. As such, it will be easier to categorize the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, threats that hinder the application of educational leaders from introducing technology systems in schools.
Conclusion
Based on the studies, technology development has become a crucial aspect of the improvement of various sectors. Education is one of the critical sectors that can highly benefit from the application of technology. Dubai is one of the regions that the education sector can profoundly benefit from the application of technology. Through exploring, the study will explain various factors that revolve around educational leaders in the application of technology in the school programs. As such, the establishment of technology in school is based on educational leaders' attitude toward the system. The finding of the study will be directed to educational leaders, and this will influence their understanding of the importance of technology in learning and teaching programs. As such, the result will form a background structure that other researchers will use in further research on the topic.
