Introduction
The pandemic of Coronavirus is the worse challenge that the world has ever faced in history. Every nation feels the impacts of the epidemic more through strict orders like social distancing that leaves many in the quarantine places (Rice 5) The presidential election being one of the significant political seats, many campaigners find themselves fixed and compelled to come up with new strategies of campaigning. Thus, this discussion will focus on the effects brought up by social distancing orders that interfere with politics indirectly or directly. Due to these orders, others have conceptualized their well-calculated moves through social media platforms through the enabled internet networks.
The use of the internet and social media in place of debates ought to pass planned manifestos:
The one-meter rule implemented to the citizens after the outbreak of the Coronavirus forces most of the aspirants for presidential seats start using the internet for early campaigns. Before the pandemic, most of the politicians could have easy access to the citizens and market their manifestos through elaborating in detail what they perceive to perform to better the lives of the citizens. With America embraced evidence-based politics where the aspirant addresses his/her strategies in accomplishing the agendas in the manifesto in a realistic way agitated for conferences to address the citizens. This approach towards politics was one of the best, and the citizens could elect the best leader by voting wisely. At the moment, things are different, and therefore, the internet has become the most critical tool to reach the voters by advertising themselves via the social media platforms they prefer. In the previous years, debate for the Democratic presidential aspirants depended on the merits that the candidates had in sweeping liberal ideas, a fetting process in regards to electability and bias notions, and raising and falling in the polls as voters struggle in choosing the front-runner. This method is not the case today, and therefore, many embrace the use of the internet to market themselves.
Evidence on aspirant's ability to solve matters at hand rather than a mere explanation of the manifestos:
It through the internet campaigns that president Trump promotes his movements by excluding himself from the sidelines and demoralizing the opponents' parties that are contenders as socialists of 2020 presidential election (Klein & Robison 46). The campaigns occurred at amid more significant uncertainty due to the spreading virus and developing anxiety concerning economic downtrend. Something extraordinary replaces that type of classic campaigns for the presidency in that the nation needs a real-time, life-or-death evaluation of competence and leadership capabilities that make the aspirants worthy the White House in the forthcoming election (Klein & Robison 47).
The three principal presidential aspirants with incumbent inclusion immediately strategized on prioritizing use of internet to pivot the shaping and guiding the country via its new political discourse. The new approaches to politics looks a bit more mature where the leaders ability to promote and strategize on attainable fundamental reforms is more practical and evident through their contributions towards the doubt of testing kits, travel bans regulations, and stipulation of crowd sizes. The level of competition in the presidential seat this round base on the achievable results through demonstrations on how to lead the Americans amid social disruption and collapsing of the stock market (Frieden 181). The competitions are at another level that is plausible since the aspirants market their manifestos using the internet and in the effort of solving the challenge that is preferable to the citizens. In the previous elections in the America, citizens judge the candidates according to their manifestos and the strategies they possessed in accomplishing them by answering questions whose answers give light to the impacts of reforms concerning economic development in the country.
The democracy in politics is bringing its real and applicable benefits since the use of the internet eliminates personal interventions in performing campaigns since the voters will judge the best contender through the majority who witnessed the deeds of the individual candidate. For instance, a few hours after Mr Trump had a wooden address in the Oval office using the slogan "Keep America Great." (Klein & Robison 54). Joseph R. Biden Jr., the former vice-president, struggled to place himself at the top that captures the national interest, making a speech that echoes reinforcement of the items addressed by the president at the time of crisis. Furthermore, unlike Mr. Trump, he goes ahead to propose mechanism plan and a couple of objectives regarding testing, increasing the number of healthcare units and giving hand to encourage discovery of the vaccine for the disease (Klein & Robison 55).
Taking the above scenario, it is evident that the competition for presidency seat during this time of maintaining the required social distancing is more intelligent. The anticipated objectives by the individuals in fostering development in the country depends on the models used in achieving them (Himelboim et al., 97). The plans that emanate from the political aspirants touch the local citizens rather than general groups. Voting for the best candidate is not determinant on the notions of electability like before where the candidate proved about what he/she proposed to deliver was real and leaders' capabilities to have vast knowledge concerning the set goals.
Use of the internet and social media networks in leveraging communication gives the flexibility that is considerable in every communicating medium (Bertsou 218). The campaigns done via these platforms reveals the comprehensive coverage by the politicians as a sense of responsibility by the citizens to have the required level of awareness but not voting someone because of nepotism, and other individual benefits that associates with the candidate. The aspirants cannot use the methods they used before by getting ten votes from the family members and relatives, a chain that could interfere with the proper selection of the best candidate when it comes to voting (Bertsou 219). The influence for an individual to change his/her mind from selecting a diplomatic leader that can deliver development and proper management of the available resources to foster change in the country. Strategies related to personal benefits in the campaign season will no longer take its root in the societies with uninformed personalities like in the previous years.
The politics in America will bring an improved approach in judging and detecting failures among the elected officials. The way the internet and social media networks work currently in politics, it is evident that instead of blaming president of the undone plans, it is essential to evaluate them depending on their intelligence in tackling challenges that face the country. Mr Trump currently uses the presidency hallmarks for an agitated display for the ridiculous boasts that awards himself a full mark in tackling the crisis (Bertsou 219).
He also appreciates the scale of the pandemic at early stages despite taking actions in an attempt to downplay the threat for weeks. Instead, there are persistent attacks on government institutions as the first element in compacting the crisis. The president took actions that prompt in the reduction of the spread of the virus by issuing an extreme advisory for curbing the pandemic by urging people to refrain all worldwide travel that could help in greatly in resolving the challenge. The strategies' implementation by the country in fighting with the epidemic seems well thought of and helping to recover.
It is, therefore, crucial to see politics in a different perspective whereby leaders achievements must depend on the individuals' mentality of solving problems that face the nation. "I like the numbers where they are. I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault." (Bertsou 227). Was the statement as he suspended the operation of the cruise ship stops on the West Coast. Also, through the efforts of Mr Trump to discover medicine for the pandemic has been one of the fundamental game-changers in medical history (Bertsou 229). These sets of well-thought plans show that the responsibilities of good leadership that conceptualizes on using the available resources more appropriately to discover medicine that champions their research process. Unlike the previous judgements based on poor performance, the use of internet networks shows the positive impacts that a leader offers in his/her leadership era rather than discrimination that delays developments.
Loss of trust and decline of power for political institutions rises with the set rules and regulations. Trust in politics is likely to improve on innovation, investment, and employment decisions for the country's growth (Denton et al., 2019). In recent years, the loss of trust for political institutions has increased the cost of law enforcement. Trust in politics in most countries has been an argument of social capital in most world countries. In comparison to previous years, the political and legal administrative institutions have not been matter equality. Before, the political system with reasonable and impartial administrative practices would have trusted by its citizen as compared to recent years (Denton et al., 2019). The manner of conducting political compaigns can aid in bulding trust for political systems.
