Introduction
Asthma is a medical condition whereby a person's airway narrows, swells and also produces excessive mucus. As a result, this makes a person's breathing to become difficult and the condition also triggers coughing, sneezing, wheezing as well as shortness of death. Some people may have Asthma as a slight nuisance that can be managed using pharmaceutical inhalers. However, to others, Asthma can be a life-threatening condition that requires aggressive treatment. Asthma cannot be fully treated. However, their symptoms can be controlled using contemporary and alternative medicine. Nevertheless, it is important for a person to work with his/her doctor since the symptoms of Asthma changes over time and regular tracking of such changes is imperative. The following project is a summary of the physical examination findings of a patient with Asthma that also details the summary of the planned medical interventions to address his condition.
Summary of the Patient's Physical Examination
The patient who was diagnosed was an American male aged 25. The physical examination of the patient showed that he was experiencing chest pain and tightness when he was breathing. Moreover, the patient explained that he had an occasional cough, wheezing during respiration, frequent respiratory infections, and Dyspnoea. Also several weeks prior to his visit to the hospital, the patient had been treated for chest infections. The symptoms had manifested themselves in the client for a few months but the patient had not visited a hospital for a treatment related to the same condition. The doctor diagnosing the patient ascertained that he was suffering from Asthma since the patient also had a family history of close relatives suffering from the same condition.
Planned Interventions for the Client
The patients' diagnosis indicated that he has Asthma. Since his Asthmatic condition is not severe, he will be offered inhaled corticosteroids to manage his condition. They are anti-inflammatory drugs and the patient will have a choice of using Fluticasone, Ciclesonide or Beclomethasone for her treatment. The mode of use will be inhalation through the mouth and the frequency of use will be three times of the day. For the administered corticosteroids to reach its full effectiveness, it will have to be used by the client for a minimum of two weeks. Also, corticosteroids have relatively low-level side effects and as such, they will be safe to use in the long term. Nevertheless, to ensure that the medications that are administered to the client are effective, he is supposed to attend the clinical for a regular check every two weeks for four consecutive periods.
Community Services and Alternative Medicine for Treating Asthma
The client can also use alternative medicines, which are quite as effective as contemporary medicine in treating Asthma. The first alternative medicine that the patient can use is breathing exercises. Additionally, taking regular exercises can aid in reducing the number of medications that an asthmatic person uses. Nevertheless, the patient should seek the right guidance on how to perform regular breathing exercises from certified physical therapists. Second, the patient can use herbs and natural remedies to mediate his asthmatic condition. Some of the herbs and natural remedies that are considered effective in treating Asthma include black seeds, Caffeine, Choline, and Pycnogenol (Mahler, 2017).
Ultimately, all medications that are focused on treating Asthma should be complemented by the patient's ability to stay healthy. That is because having Asthma does not mean that the patient is unable to execute a range of day-to-day functions. As part of staying healthy, the patient can perform regular exercises, which are essential in strengthening his heart and lungs' muscles and in the process reducing the major symptoms of Asthma. Also, as part of being healthy, the patient should maintain a healthy weight. That is because obesity worsens asthmatic conditions and can also place the patient at risk of other health conditions (Alvarez et al., 2010).
Conclusion
In conclusion, Asthma is a medical condition whereby a person's airway narrows, swells and also produces excessive mucus. Some of the symptoms that can be manifested by a person suffering from Asthma include coughing and wheezing during respiration, frequent respiratory infections as well as Dyspnoea. Moreover, past family history of Asthma among a patient's relatives can also be a key indication that an individual is suffering from the health condition. The condition can be treated using corticosteroids like Fluticasone, Ciclesonide or Beclomethasone, which are orally inhaled medications. Additionally, for the corticosteroids to reach their full effectiveness, a patient is supposed to use them for several weeks. However, the drugs have relatively low side effects and as such, they are safe for long-term use. Ultimately, community services such as participating in regular body exercise programs can help to avert the risk of Asthma attack on a patient. People who are also prone to Asthma should maintain their body health, avoid gaining excessive weight and take natural herbs like black seeds to minimize their susceptibility to the Asthmatic condition.
