Introduction

ACE inhibitors are drugs needed for the control of high blood pressure, congestive failure of the heart. It also helps in preventing stroke and hypertension or any diseases that are diabetic and may damage the kidney. The drug is very effective as the first control to patients having heart issues, heart failure, and also hypertension (Sun et al., 2018). ACE inhibitors show a lot of similarities, and they are sure to treat high blood pressure. All other inhibitors are in inactive form except for Capoten (captopril).

Hypertension is highly destructive since it can lead to strokes, heart attack, heart failure, or kidney diseases. Various lifestyle modifications are necessary to reduce the chances of being a victim of hypertension. Lifestyles changes include: Losing weight in case if the victim has gained a lot of weight (Sun et al., 2018). Loss of weight can be achieved through vigorous body exercise and also maintaining a special diet. In case you have diagnosed with hypertension, it is necessary to quit smoking if you have been a victim. A healthy diet is also important in achieving lifestyle modification. Diet changes include taking a lot of fruits, ensuring that vegetables are available in your diet. Also, on diet issues, it is important to reduce the fat content, which is abundantly found in dairy products.

Furthermore, it is also required that you reduce the amount of sodium on the food taken. Thus, to reduce the high blood pressure, it is necessary to take nothing more than 1,500 milligrams of sodium each day. Low sodium intake should also be accompanied by little exercises such as walking for half an hour in a day, for several weeks. Also, it's necessary to reduce drinking to two bottles of beer for a man and one bottle for a lady (Sun et al., 2018). Other than lowering the pressure in the blood, this lifestyle modification is essential in ensuring that the ACE inhibitors work effectively.

Medical practitioners easily prescribe most ACE for treatment; however, these hypertension drugs have their side effects, which include: feeling tired often, rashes on the skin, problems for males in erections feeling nervous, and headaches, among other cases (Sun et al., 2018). The monitoring nurse should immediately take corrective actions in case of such changes. Changing the type of dose has been effective in the reduction of side effects.

The ACE inhibitor was discontinued because of its side effect on Mr. Tinsley, who developed an irritating cough that made him uncomfortable. Various medical research analysis, ACE medication is not suitable for aging people (Sun et al., 2018). Side effects of ACE are in older people is so adverse that the medical facility should consider the discontinuation of the ACE.

Diltiazem treats hypertension by relaxing the blood vessels so that the heart does not pump with a lot of effort. Furthermore, it increases the amount of oxygen that reaches the heart. The common prescription includes taking Diltiazem tablets for about 3 to 4 times a day (Sun et al., 2018). It is essential to pursue information from the medics regarding taking the drugs with food. However, it is important to note that the drug reduces blood pressure but does not treat them.

Although BP at 140/72 is not that critical, it is important not to stop the medication. Failure to treat hypertension may lead to other serious related such as kidney failure, damage of the blood vessels, loss of sight, and also dementia (Sun et al., 2018). These diseases do not pop at once, and they develop silently, which may later become adverse. "We don't treat people with prehypertension with treatment if they have other therapeutic conditions which expose them at greater risk to contract the disease, such as diabetes, chronic kidney and coronary artery disease" (Sun et al., 2018).
