Meta-Analysis Study
Patient Aggression and the Wellbeing of Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Survey Study in Psychiatric and Non-Psychiatric Settings
Difference Between the Two Studies
There are several ways in which individual nursing studies can be structured. One way is through a systematic review. The systematic review has to types of study, namely meta-synthesis and meta-analysis study. The meta-synthesis analysis focuses on identifying the specific relationship between concepts within the research question (Ham-Baloyi & Jordan, 2016). For example, in the case study mentioned earlier, the study focuses on finding out the relationship between an increased number of suicide in nursing schools led by registered and operating nurses. The study is supposed to identify all the reasons, possibilities, facts related to the research question.
On the other hand, the Meta-analysis study is quantitative and more rigorous. Where, the main focus is to analyze all the previous papers that have talked about the research topic, explain them accordingly while objectively coming up with a solution that leads to a direct form of information. Meta-analysis tends to focus on different plans and seeks to come out with one study that supports one idea to the other (Ham-Baloyi & Jordan, 2016). For example, in the case mentioned earlier, the study is supposed to identify if it is a fact that patient aggression affects the wellbeing of nurses in psychiatric settings. The study analyses all the purported theory on the research question and comes out with an authentic opinion on the same back up with quantitative facts from other legit sources and journals.
Importance of Systematic Review to Nursing Practice
A systematic review in the nursing practice is essential since it fosters clinical effectiveness. Systematic review promotes clinical effectiveness through ensuring that nursing practices are purely based on knowledge rather than firmly held nursing traditions (Ham-Baloyi & Jordan, 2016). In a nutshell, a systematic study in nursing is a source of evidence-based nursing practice.
