Emory University has the kind of PA program that I am seeking. It represents academic excellence and commitment to community service, which aligns with my career and education goals. The program’s dedication to uphold diversity and focus on compassionate care to the underserved minorities was particularly fascinating. I am insterested in this PA program since it promotes community engagement learning and involvement. In line with this goal, the university has a Farmworker Project that provides free medical care to farmworkers and their families. I would also be interested in the teen group program to mentor college-bound teens interested in health professions, as I enjoy working with young people. I also find the Good Samaritan Health Center to be fascinating, which provides subsidized healthcare to poor and underinsured patients
In preparation for this program, I have served my community extensively through volunteer work. I volunteered at Baton Rouge General Hospital as a desk assistant in the surgery-waiting department, assisting families waiting for their loved ones and setting up conference rooms for consultation after surgery. As a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, I helped organize a walk to increase awareness of the opportunities available through education, particularly in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). I also took part in Louisiana University (LSU) Community Bound, an event aimed at improving the conditions of underserved communities in the Baton Rouge.
Furthermore, I served as a mentor for the Youth Oasis Center, a facility for homeless youth. My peers and I raised funds for the center through a program called Loop the Lake. I was also a volunteer for Run for Hope, a race to raise awareness about adopted children, and Love Houston, an event to clean up unprivileged neighborhoods in Houston. As a member of the Minorities Women’s Movement in LSU, I contributed to the empowerment of female minority students through programs addressing social and educational needs. My commitment to serving my community inspired me to participate in several funds and food drives for the homeless and schools for underprivileged children. I partook in these events because I believe every person deserves an opportunity and equal resources and opportunities.
Being a black woman, I will help Emory PA program to increase the representation of the minority in medicine and biomedical research. My education and career goal also align with the program’s mission to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare. I am committed to partaking rigorous coursework, excel, and become a highly regarded PA. Through my dedication to serving society, I will help the program realize its goal of promoting community-engaged learning and reaching underserved populations. I am intelligent, determined to succeed, and dedicated to serving society. Although my GPA is not the best, my extensive work and volunteer experience show I am committed to helping my community. I plan to retake some classes after graduation and start a post-baccalaureate program in the fall to take upper-level science courses and help raise my GPA.
Conclusion
I am interested in the Emory PA program since it is among the top in the country. Scoring this prestigious admission would allow me to reshape patient care in the US. It will offer me a chance to continue serving the community through compassionate healthcare, as well as partaking rigorous coursework to promote high-quality healthcare. As per this program’s goal, I would like to be part of the diverse student body being mentored to become highly regarded physician assistants. The opportunity would equip me with the skills and knowledge required to serve the community with the highest quality and compassionate care. Given this chance, I would dedicate my time and energy in the coursework and serving the underserved.
