This organization helped to change the Filipino nurses from the national traitors to Philippines nation heroes. The central theme of the article is to create or present a transnational perspective concerning the historical developments for both the United States and Philippine is concerning the Filipino nurse's activism.

According to the article, the Philippine nurses tend to face discrimination in the United States as they search for labor. For example, the nurses are made first to undergo a test, which is the State Board Test Pool Examination for them to obtain a practicing license in the United States hospitals of which a high percentage of the Filipinos did not pass. However, some states reduced the amount of time that the foreign nurses could prepare for the examination of this increased chances of the foreigners failing the exam. Also, some states only issue temporary work permits whereby that lasted for a short period, and in case one fails the work permits were revoked, and the nurses faced deportation. My opinion on the issue is that due to the increased instances of Filipino nurses discrimination there is the need for various reforms to ensure that the foreigners are granted equal rights and employment opportunities as the American nurses. For example, they should be given a chance to repeat the exam in case one fails, and they should also ensure that the examination is fair to everyone through the elimination of instances of racism and cultural diversity.

What Was Your First Thought About Learning About This Subject?

My first thought about the subject is that the Philippine nurses are underprivileged. This is due to various reasons that include. First, they are subjected to tough examination tests for them to be licensed, whereby very few of them pass the examination. This is because the American nurses view the Filipino as not have attained the right quality of education. Secondly, there are subjected to issues of racism and nativism since the American commission claims that the employees place the foreign nurse graduates in roles they are not prepared for, and the American professional school of nursing cannot offer enough education programs to the Filipino nurses with academic deficiencies. This resolution shows the presence of racism and knows nothing attitude towards the Filipino nurses.

What Is Your Personal Experience on This Issue?

In the course of my career, I have been involved with people from other minority countries who come into the United States in search of employment as nurses. The foreign employee from the minority countries tends to face many challenges such as racism and suffer from the know-nothing attitude from the American registered nurses. The foreign nurses are viewed as not having attained the needed competence to ensure the safety of the American patients.

In Your Opinion What Can Be Done to Solve This Issue?

First, pre-screening examination for the foreign nurses should be introduced, whereby the nurses should be tested on communication skills a, that is English language competency and professional preparation which include the essential areas tested by state board tool professional examination while still in their country before migration to ensure that they are competent enough. To help eliminate the licensing exam that is complex to the foreigners. Secondly, there should be the creation of United States based foreign organizations whose aim is to fight for the rights of the foreign nurse's employees to help eliminate cases of discrimination and racism.

Conclusion

The Philippine nurses seem to be facing many challenges according to the article this include, discrimination from the American nurses and cases of racism. However, these challenges were being eliminated through, the introduction of pre-screening examination in their native countries and creation of foreign organizations that aimed at fighting for the rights of the foreign employees. There was also the introduction of license examination review programs to ensure that the exam was fair enough.
