The single payer health care system is universal health care which covers the cost of important health care services for all the residents of the United States. These costs are covered by a single public system which makes it to be called the single payer health care system. The main reason as to why the single payer health care system was develop was to ensure that the citizen of US could have access to affordable health care services. Therefore, having this system would solve most of the problems experienced in the US health care system.

Recent Health Care Reforms

Health care reforms have always been developed with the aim of continually improving health care services. In the US, various health care reforms have been recently adopted to enhance service provision in the health care industry. One of the health care reforms is balancing the doctor supply as well as the demand. The main similarity between this system of health care and the single payer is that they are both aimed at improving the quality of medical service delivery to the citizen. However, the difference is that this reforms focuses on making sure that the ratio of doctors to patients is balances to ensure close monitoring. The other health care reform that has been seen in the US is the bundle payment whereby the doctors are paid based on the capitation system that has been linked to the outcome instead on a fee for service basis. The main similarity of this reform with the single health care system is that it ensures the cost of medical is reduced by not paying the doctors based on the service they provide. However, the difference is that this system depends on the efforts of the doctors.

Argument for the Single Health Care System

The single health care system has been developed by the government to make health care services affordable to the citizens. Many people have supported the idea of having the single health care system while some have opposed this move. The first reason as to why most people have supported the single health care system is that every person will be covered without any form of discrimination. The second reason why the single health care system is supported is that it will result in a heathier population. The single payer health care system will ensure that the citizen are treated from the diseases that they have hence there will be few cases of diseases.

On the other hand, the reason why there are some people opposing the single payer health care system is that it will eliminate competition. Most of the health care centers will not be able to compete with each since most of the cost will not be paid by the government. The second limitation is longer waiting time. Since the cost of health care is free, many people will opt to go and get medical attention. Therefore, there will be a high number of people in medical center causing the amount of time that people wat to receive medical services to increase and this may cause some conditions to worsen. The third limitation is that there will be an increase in taxes. Since the government is providing free medical care, the taxes will be increase so that there could be enough money to fund the program.

Consequences of Single Payer Health Care System

The main consequence that that will be experienced from the development of the single payer health care system is the increase access to medical services since the cost is affordable. However, the citizen will have to be subjected to high takes that will go towards funding this project and make sure that it turns out successfully.

Personal Concerns

The presence of the single payer health system would help in improving the medical conditions of many people. Currently, it is evident that many people cannot access medical care because the cost of treatment is high. Therefore, when the cost are reduced, it will be easier to access these services. However, I feel that as time goes, this reform may burden the government since the health care industries requires a lot of money for it to run effectively.
