Introduction
Motivation is defined as the driving force to purse and satisfy one's need. We usually have two types of motives which can be either intrinsic motivation or extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is that type of type driving force which comes from within the individual that is internal motivation or self-motivation. Intrinsic motivation occurs where the individual motivates himself. Extrinsic motivation is also called external motivation which originates from without, that is, it is caused by external factors. As a student, there are some classes which motivate me, and at times some demotivate me also. I have attended a variety of courses in the past few years in college.
A class that I attended that motivated me
There is this one business class which I attended, and I was very motivated to succeed. Apart from the passing I had about the course and the self-drive, my business professor also motivated me. Being the business lecturer, she would begin each class with advice about careers in our field. He also showed too much enthusiasm about the topics we were going to cover and how it was applicable in real life, and this motivated me further.
My other colossal motivator was when the professor took the time to comment on my individual strengths in class which made me feel that I could really make it. Taking time for the professor to identify an individual in class and realize their advantages as well as encouraging their particular strengths served as a fantastic source of motivation for our class as everyone was inspired to do better. The professor also got us involved in the course by giving each student work to do in the class. It gave us a sense of ownership of the level and helped me to feel accomplished and participate actively in the class.
A class that that got me not motivated
Despite being motivated to perform in the business class, there is this one which it was not motivated to act well. I lost my interest in the level because I did not perceive the classroom climate to be supportive. I felt marginalized by the course content and the classroom environment which eroded my motivation to engage with the course. The lecturer did not recognize and acknowledge individuals, and these made me feel excluded and unheard which demotivated me.
Theory of motivation
Job satisfaction and motivation are essential in the concept of productivity in any business. Job satisfaction is a psychological factor which cannot be seen or quantified, but its expression is assigned a task and can discharge his responsibilities satisfactorily. Most common Theories of job satisfaction include: Maslow's needs hierarchy, Theory of Herzberg's Motivator-Hygiene, Job Characteristics Model, and Employees can be motivated in different ways. one way is by making your business a pleasant place to be by providing a conducive working environment to the employees (McInerney et al.2011). Offering employees reward 0ibased on their performance motivates them making them to discharge their responsibilities satisfactorily. Another method is by being respectful, honest and supportive to the employees motivates them and makes them feel satisfied hence productivity improves.
Giving employees a room to grow in a rapidly expanding business is a massive motivator since there is a psychological factor which makes them feel they are trusted and respected for their work. Sharing positive feedback with the employees is another motivator because it is great to feel fulfilled by your work. Managers need to be transparent with their employees (Heinrichs et al.2013). Employees need to have an insight into how the business is going, and this motivates them and makes them more invested in the industry. It is clear that motivation plays a key role when it comes to the achievement of organizational goals.
