Introduction

In 2018, just about every higher institution such as college in the country now provides courses as well as a full degree which can entirely be earned through online classes. Therefore, gone are the days when people considered online classes as substandard compared to classroom learning. My plans as the president of the university are to adopt online courses since they are cheaper and affordable compared to class courses. There no transport costs involved and some course materials like textbooks will not be required since they will be free and readily available in our college E-library. This will aid students in satisfying their overall education needs at a lesser cost (McCready 2). Online courses will allow this college to provide a variety of alternative courses for students. Learners will be able to study online various course from neuroscience to nursing ranging from certificate to doctorate. Additionally, online courses are flexible and convenient than classroom courses which will offer students a chance to strategize their studying time (Tabarrok 5). My college adopts this plan to help students work while studying course of choice since they are no requirement of visiting physical class or library due to the availability of all course materials online.

The most prominent economic concept that stirred me to adopt online classes is the opportunity cost. This is the value foregone to make an investment in online courses for undergraduates instead of concentrating on classroom teaching (Sanchez & Joseph 383). We foregone the value of those students looking for face-to-face communication which facilitates learners to have a direct engagement with their professors. This approach ensures that students and professors will likely to have detailed deliberation with each other unlike in online classes where interaction is held through video conferencing software. Furthermore, this approach may be ineffective where a detailed discussion may consume time resulting in boredom which may make some students leave the online class.

Moreover, because many colleges and universities are providing online course this means that there is a high supply of this teaching techniques, the cost of acquiring an online course has decreased. This is in alignment with the economic law of supply which states that when more of goods and services, their prices decreases and when less of a good or service is supplied, their prices increases (Sanchez & Joseph 384). Therefore, this is the primary reason why I choose online courses since as many colleges are increasing providing online courses to students they are becoming cheaper and affordable fee.

Conclusion

Technological advancements furthermore have acquired learning content for an online course more affordable than classroom teaching. A cost or benefit analysis on learning processes would show the disparity in the financial resources spent in classroom teaching and those utilized in online courses (Sanchez & Joseph 383). In classroom teaching, one has to pay for the space used by the teachers and other resources such as lighting and teaching boards. On the other hand, in online learning, one only needs to have the internet to access learning materials online. I believe that online courses are more affordable than classroom teaching not only for students but also our college as the rent and overhead expenses continue to increase which the primary reason I choose to embrace online courses in my university.
