According to Swanson & Real Caregivers Program (2019), the nursing course is not for the faint-hearted and requires lots of courage and bravery to pursue. The curriculum itself is extremely demanding and thus making it extremely challenging for students. To master the course requires increased hours in the library to sharpen the skills and knowledge since the course requires a minimum credit that can rise to 50 points. The course is also lengthy and may require a minimum of 500 clinical hours to complete the master’s degrees

Tolerance and patience of students are needed because nursing involves increased bulk work throughout the course (Burkley, 2018). This increases the amount of time necessary for the student to spend studying, and at other times this causes the students to burnout. Hence, when the virtues of patience and tolerance to the demanding stature of the course lack many students do not complete their nursing course. A recent study revealed that the challenging and tough nursing course was associated with increased mental health issues of the students. This increases the hardship in the course that a student needs to have enough tolerant attitudes to endure the period and succesifully complete their course.

A student with an aspiring intention to pursue nursing needs to be a time-conscious person. This is because the classes are many, and the assignment and the notes all pile up. Hence, proper utilization of available time is necessary for the student to be in a position to meet the deadline for the assignments and also have enough time to study for their exams properly (Waterworth, 2003). The minimum credits for the course are higher than other classes, and thus more time is required to prepare for the assignments and the exams adequately.

Proper communication skill is relevant in nursing class since the course involves a practicum at one point. Thus a person who can adequately converse and address their patients during the internship ensures there is proper diagnosis. Furthermore, the quality of the nurse and patient communication influences their satisfaction and the security they feel regarding the quality of care they get from the institution (Kourkouta, & Papathanasiou, 2014). Hence a student with the right communication skills will be in a position to gain more from their practicum that a poor conversing student.

A team worker is also an essential trait for a student pursuing the nursing course since the course has numerous discussions, and at times the lessons are so complicated, making them quite tough to understand (Ghaferi, & Dimick,2016).Hence nursing students may form discussion units to help each other to understand the lecture and notes properly. This increases knowledge among them and increases the level of understanding and teamwork that is required later during the nurse career after completion of their course.
