I could hardly keep myself from the pain that the girl was going through and kept staring at her. When Cheryl walked into the shop where I was working, her right cheek was swollen, and she told me that she had a toothache that could hardly go away. Her suffering touched me, and I felt sorry for her and myself as well because I could not relieve her pain. She was just seven years old and needed to see a dentist quickly. I took her to the nearest dentistry in the community where a dentist was able to pull out the tooth and Cheryl was relieved of her pain. While in the facility, I observed how dentists could make a difference in the lives of children like Cheryl by not only relieving pain but also through teaching the importance of oral health. This appealed to me tremendously thus instilled the passion in me to practice dentistry myself.

I joined a dentistry college later that year. To discover my interest in dentistry, I offered my services as a dental assistant at Doctor Mujeeb Specialty Dental Clinic where I was acquainted with insightful strategies for disease prevention and health promotion. Later, I worked as a junior dentist for three years where I was introduced to various techniques in dentistry. I interacted with diverse patients with different dental needs and gained knowledge and skills by observing how the doctor dealt with every patient and treated them to the best of his ability. I learned a lot from the doctor through taking x-rays, crowns, impressions, root canal treatments, and disimpactions which led to the growth of my interest in dentistry. Furthermore, I horned my dentistry skills by overshadowing at Dr Schell's Dental Clinic. This motivated me to become a reputable dentist one day.

I anticipate that this program will boost my knowledge and experience to become a certified practising dentist in the United States. I envision my dental office with modern machines such as 3D Computer-aided Endodontics, lasers, and radiographers that will shape the delivery of oral health to the patients as well as offer affordable services to people in need.

Besides studies, I have been engaged in homemaking, travelling, babysitting, baking, DIYs, and stitching which allows me to combine my creativity and interest in dentistry. For instance, I have achieved hand-eye coordination through stitching as well as patience from my kids. Apart from this, I have started my YouTube channel, took and cleared the National Dental Boards Examination and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All these activities have been instrumental in shaping my interest in dentistry.

Conclusion

Dentistry holds a vital and essential role in the society and would be grateful if given an opportunity. I believe that this course will enable me to take care, transform and restore the patients' oral health as well as eliminate pain and deliver restorative dental procedures thus transforming and impacting the lives of the patients in the community. Furthermore, believe this course will impart the expertise to use the most advanced technologies and apply state-of-the-art techniques to solve a myriad of issues in oral health such as the progression of periodontal diseases through research and practice (Kaul, Jain, Saha & Sarkar, 2017). I believe that my passion for helping others and dedication for this career will allow me to join this demanding and competitive profession.
