Introduction
The Secretary of Labor put in place the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) with the aim of determining skills necessary for the young people to become successful in the various workplaces. (SCANS) Was put in place to see to it that performance at the workplace is efficient and employers are highly skilled for better results. A good foundation in the necessary skills required in the workplace is equal to high performance in the workplace. My career of choice is Obstetrical and Gynecological Sonography, and my chosen skill is Problem Solving.
Problem Solving is one the most important skills in the obstetrical and gynecological Sonography. The profession mainly deals with using diagnostic imaging modalities for an ultrasound and knowing gynecological problems in a woman. This field requires a person or any other professional in the field to have problem-solving skills to address the problems that patients face quickly. The problem-solving skill makes a person be able to use technologies such as the use of a sonographer to know a patient's problem through ultrasound technology. Problem-solving skills in this profession is very crucial as it makes possible for a physician to use the transvaginal or transabdominal to understand the problems that a pregnant mother may be having and save lives (Hertzberg, and William 102).
From another viewpoint, problem-solving as a skill is required in the field of obstetrical and gynecological sonography as it makes a person know how to use technology to make appropriate diagnoses and solve patient's problems quickly (Stephenson 500). The skill is one of the most important in the field as it makes a person be able to understand how to use technologies that are important in making diagnosis easier and knowing whether a pregnant woman has any abnormalities or the pregnancy is fine.
At a different angle, problem-solving as a skill in the obstetrical and gynecological sonography is very important. It enables a person to have information and knowledge on how to deal with very complex issues, such as making a person to use sonographic technology to establish uterine anomalies that a woman can have during pregnancy (Rumack 109). As one of the critical skills in the obstetrical and gynecological sonography field, problem-solving can make it possible for a person to diagnose uterine pathology and other conditions that may be fatal to women and hence take corrective actions quickly. The skill also makes a person get a quick diagnosis about the images that reveal Benign and malignant ovarian tumors in pregnant women since the skill makes a person ensure a patient is attended to as a way of averting any potential complications (Stephenson 254).
Additionally, problem-solving as a skill from the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), is one of the skills that can be used with computer technology to choose the procedures, tools and equipment person needs to offer the best care. It relates to finding out if a fetus has abnormalities so that the best course of action is taken. The procedure is very complicated, but with problem-solving skills, a medical professional is able to manage the situation (Stephenson 378). From the technological knowledge that accompanies problem-solving skills in obstetrical and gynecological sonography, the skill is vital as it will expedite the process of finding out if a woman has an abnormal early pregnancy or a pregnancy that is abnormal. As one of the skills in the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), problem-solving is very vital skills that will also make a medical professional know the application knowledge in ultrasound in obstetrics, that are advanced and powered by technology to make healthcare to pregnant women more efficient. In fact, the most important problem-solving skills that is the application of the 3D (4D) technology to know a fetus' status regarding the movement of the fetus and whether it has a deformity or not so that the situation is addressed quickly.
By the use of problem-solving using technology in obstetrics and gynecology, a medical profession is able to undertake ultrasound to a mother and establish the state of the child and the mother's risk during the pregnancy. Problem-solving as one the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) has made it possible for medical professionals know the importance of how advanced sonographic techniques in ultrasound and gynecology can be used to expedite the process of solving a patient's problem. It should be noted that problem-solving skills are important for the field as they make it possible for a physician to expedites the process of diagnosis and identification of any complications that mothers can have during pregnancy and knowing the gynecological issues they are facing, then doing the best to address the condition.
The nature of vast of problem-solving techniques with team a members in the obstetrical and gynecological sonography setting is good for procedures used in the field during diagnosis be identified and dealt with to avert an escalation of the problem (Rumack 27). Problem-solving as a skill is important in making a person gain sonographic knowledge and skills that are advanced that will make my practice very efficient.
By gaining competency in problem-solving, a person will need a competent sonographer, and understand that the use of technological equipment is one of the best was to advise patients that have problems during pregnancy since their problems can be identified fast. (Hertzberg and William 98). This will make it possible to solve problems on what they can do or the options they need to take to protect the life of a child and their lives in general in a very short while since a medical practitioner is able to think fast and use the knowledge to make a patient's experience with a hospital good. Hence, the patient will get satisfied with the information and obstetrical and gynecological sonography services they were offered.
With the use of problem-solving skills, medical practitioners are able to know that a problem exists, see the discrepancies in solving the problem, develop a plan to solve the problem, and evaluate the progress of the situation (Rumack 67). Even though technology is essential as one tool that can assist a person to solve problems, human instinct is the best problem-solving attribute as it makes it possible for a person to know if plans need to be revised as it relates to addressing a specific problem (Hertzberg, and William 78).
If an Obstetrical and Gynecological Sonographer identifies a problem with a pregnant woman, the information is beneficial to the woman because it is using this information that the woman is going to seek for assistance to rectify the problem. For example in a case report from an Obstetrical and Gynecological Sonographer indicates that a woman has an ectopic pregnancy then that information would be beneficial to the mother because she will use it to seek for further medical attention. The woman is also in a position to educate herself so that in future, she will be able to respond accordingly to anything abnormal during the pregnancy.
Conclusion
As can be seen, there are a number of fundamental skills that are necessary to realize success in the workplace. Problem-solving as one of the skills is highly important in Obstetrical and Gynecological Sonography as it will help in identifying gynecological problems in pregnant women and possible ways to avert them.
