Introduction
Research reveals that the broad spectrum of physical activities has many positive effects on the body and the mind of humans (Filip et al., 2015). The scope of the impacts takes into consideration many aspects, which include age, body size, professions, and health conditions, among others. The physiological effects of exercise can be short-lived or long-lived and can be harmful to positive. Many individuals that engage in physical activity regularly are in many times healthier than the counterparts who do not usually participate in physical activity or those who don't engage in an activity completely. While training is perceived to be a preventive measure for many health conditions, it is not a cure, or rather, some health conditions can outweigh physical exercises, and thus this is evident that apart from physical activity, health conditions are also impacted by other factors. This paper will discuss the acute and long-term physiological effects of my training program on various body systems, including the cardio-pulmonary system, musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and endocrine system.
My training is bestowed on improving cardiovascular endurance and getting weight training. It is aimed at a patient aged 20 with 1.80 meters of height, 72 kilograms of weight, and BMI of 22. The training program is composed of several exercises that will have diverse impacts on the body systems of the client. The training program will both acute and long-term effects on the client. Though many of the results are anticipated to be positive, a few could be adverse or severe.
Immediately after the exercise, as scheduled in the program, the body systems will respond to provide energy for the muscles to work. Acute effects on the cardiovascular system include an increase in stroke volume, an increase in heartbeat, an increase in cardiac output, and increase in blood pressure. For the body systems to ensure a steady energy supply, there is increased blood circulation. On the other end, the long term effects of the training program can start to be experienced as early as two weeks. The long term effects will make the heart and the lungs of the patient more efficient as the cardiovascular training continues (Nurmasitoh, 2015). There would be a decreased heart rate, meaning that the client's heart will not have to beat as often to circulate blood. Another long term effect would be the fact that the client will be able to draw more profound and more prolonged breaths. More importantly, the client will have a reduced risk of vascular diseases.
The training program also has an impact on the musculoskeletal system. The short term effects will see the muscles pulling and contracting intensively, leading to tearing of the flesh (micro-trauma). And again, this would result in thicker muscles. The relaxing after exercise would be very significant for the repair of the tissues. The short-term effects of the training program majorly affect the fibers and the structure of the muscle fibers. The plan would also have long term effects on the musculoskeletal system, and many effects would be positives. During the short term effects, muscle pliability will also increase as the blood supply also increases (Nurmasitoh, 2015). When muscle flexibility has been enhanced, the injuries to muscles are reduced during the exercise. On the other side, exercise could lead to muscle fatigue and soreness. The long term effects will include muscle hypertrophy and related physiological changes. Muscle hypertrophy is the increase in muscle mass due to exercise, especially the part of the program that will consist of weight training.
When considering the short term effects of the training program on the nervous system, the increased supply of blood to the brain will supply the brain with sufficient energy to control other physical activities- it would make the client more active. The long term effects of exercise on nervous are positive on many occasions. The training will stress the muscles with enhanced the growth factor. The process will result in the growth of new brain cells and thus increases the number of the oxygen pathway. Therefore there would be sufficient energy to remove waste from the brain. As a result, the client will have a limited risk of health problems.
The training program also has significant impacts on the endocrine system. The endocrine system is composed of the glands that release the hormones that regulate the physiological activities of the body. Whether the effects will be short-term or long-lived will depend on the individuals. However, in the long run, the training program will boost several hormones circulating in the body. This strengthens the receptor site on the focused organs or the cells. Therefore, if the endocrine system adequately responded to the exercise, the long term effects will include improved organ function as well as the state of mind (Pranjic, & Azabagic, 2019). In general, the training program will significantly impact the metabolic rate, effective regulation of the blood sugar, and sufficient blood flow. If the mental state is to enhance the brain and other body systems will work perfectly well to prevent health complications. In conclusion, my training program will help the client to limit the risk of health complications.
