The purpose of administering Enalapril (Vasotec) to Mrs. Jose is to act as an antihypertensive agent that helps to lower a patient's blood pressure. For patients with congestive heart failure, Vasotec also helps decrease the frequency of hospitalization, increase survival, and improve symptoms. Further, Metoprolol (Lopressor) is administered to patients with Jose's conditions to help prevent heart attack or to treat hypertension and chest pains.
