Source Evaluation
I believe that this particular article does establish the real important issues regarding the proper maintenance of crash cart in any department within the hospital. The researchers established interesting practices which I believe and agree that they need to be practiced by practitioners to achieve good maintenance of the crash carts. For instance, practitioners need to have the breakaway plastic locks so that they can comply with the TJC guidelines. Another maintenance practice is that the entire crash cart must be restocked after each use. This implies reusing crash carts is not advisable. It is also clear in the article that qualified and specialized experts need to regularly inspect all the cart contents to approve them or recommend any otherwise action related to maintenance. The defibrillator needs to also be checked always through tests. The other important issue is about noting the expiration dates on the carts. It is my belief that the issues raised in the article do apply to the maintenance of crash carts within the radiology department.
I chose this article because of its relevance to the topic of discussion. Although the focus is on the crash carts in the radiology department, the recommendations made regarding proper maintenance within the Emergency Department in this article are also applicable to the former. In fact, this article is clear in the manner that it recommends the important actions that must be taken for the proper maintenance of crash carts. Moreover, the recommendations made by researchers are premised on findings from the review of other scholarly sources.
