Introduction
Leadership is a unique quality and of great importance to any organization. It is said that for any leader to hone their skills further and in order for them to take their career in the right direction, they have to inspire those around them. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is focused to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Our main pillars which will guide us in realizing our mission are scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.
As an Executive Director in Phi Theta Kappa knowledge and skills are of great significance. It is helpful especially in leading the efforts in revising the constitution; knowledge helps in proposing changes and amendments to the board in order to ensure that the constitution reflects the identity and/or the necessities of the chapter. I have a 3.77 GPA which equips me to make conscious and sober decisions that will help the organization achieve its mission. I have also enrolled in 19 credits to sharpen my knowledge and skills in decision making and I have registered for 16 more credits in the summer just to improve my wealth of knowledge.
Working in the US Marine Corps as a combat medic has enabled me to develop effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. These skills as you all know are of great significance to any leader. They will help me to oversee all leadership situations in the organization. The skills will be helpful in overseeing the Honour of Projects and Satellite Seminars. My good communication skills will assist me to address irregularities in the organization and how to raise them to the board.
My military experience has also taught me to take and uphold the oath of office with the seriousness that it deserves. It will help me in maintaining and upholding the constitutional guidelines and to ensure all process follow constitutional. The years I have spent as a combat medic involved thorough planning, which will come in handy when assisting the president in the development of the chapter agenda and objectives for the term.
The experience I gained from being a combat medic will help me build partnerships with other PTK officers from other chapters at both the local and state level. The experience instilled interaction skills which are good in coordinating and preparation of the leadership entry awards in PTK. Since I am in charge of contacting any officer that is not in attendance at three consecutive meetings per academic semester and give a written document stating further absence may result in impeachment as per Article III. Section III of the chapter's bylaws, building relationships, and a good rapport is important.
I am honorably discharged, a disciplined veteran and looking forward to being accepted in the Physician Assistant Programs my service in the US Marine Corps was near perfect and I can be a great assistant to the president and honorably be the very first in succeeding the president. I will be an able vice president in all ceremonial activities and when called upon to perform the duty.
Conclusion
In conclusion, for PTK to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders, they will need an executive director who has good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. My military experience as a combat medic in the US Marine Corps equips me with the necessary leadership, fellowship and services attribute to serve in this position. My academic performance and the credits enrolled to provide the required scholarship skills to oversee the organization mission. Thank you.
