Introduction
The study's problem is the prevalence of asthma in children such that it incurs much distress to their parents and caretakers. The problem is vital as nursing personnel can anticipate the distress asthma brings and sufficiently handle such cases.
Study Purpose
It aims to provide perspective into the encounters of asthma child victims' attendants and potentially highlight the complexity of those instances (Chen et al., 2015).
Research Question
The study sets out to answer the uncertain extent of caring for asthmatic children by analyzing statistics to prove if stressful or otherwise. The research question is shallow as it does not exhaustively cover the qualitative aspect. It should have a broad approach with secondary and tertiary caregivers.
Study Design
The study employs a descriptive, explanatory, interview technique for collecting and sampling of data through content analysis (Chen et al., 2015). The methodology used suits the study, as the interview technique provides first-hand information that answers the research question directly.
Subjects and Setting
Subjects were obtained inadequately. Unpaid caretakers could have a relaxed provision of service to sick children. Instead, the sample should be larger, incorporating secondary and tertiary caregivers. This is because the accuracy of conclusive qualitative research depends on the sample size (the greater the sample, the more accurate the results). The sample type is singular and limits the research scope as it does not comprehensively show the difficulty in caring for asthmatic children.
Data Collection Methods
Data collection involved interviewing the primary caregivers, and it was appropriate because it provided a first-hand account of the experience of caring for these patients (Chen et al., 2015). By labeling the subjects randomly from alphabetical letters, the researchers eliminate identification possibility by malicious parties to maintain discretion. The research states that data saturation was achieved as further data collection bore no new insights.
Data Analysis Procedures
Data analysis was procedural where transcripts were open-coded verbatim, read independently, compared, and discussed according to the research question's objective (Chen et al., 2015). The data was sorted into similar content units, and after careful checking, the information was categorized into themes. The analysis process was consistent with the qualitative method as it was content analysis with verbatim transcripts and tape records.
Strengths and Limitations
Comprehension of the stress met by primary caregivers is crucial in the development of better-addressing interventions for support in managing the disease. Small sample size and a limited scope of the study stood out as the significant limitations of the study (Chen et al., 2015).
