Introduction
As a master’s student at Walden College of Nursing, the college will mold a psychiatric nurse practitioner out of me through its academically rigorous and culturally relevant program. The college’s courses are tailored in collaboration with the healthcare industry experts to address the need of the society in healthcare matters. The college of nursing envisages being recognized as a preeminent school of nursing in the 21st Century (College of Nursing | Walden University, 2020). As its vision, the college wishes to meet people’s needs, both local and global communities, through the provision of nursing services. On its mission, the nursing college offers relevant educational programs hinged on the scholar-practitioner model for a different group of nursing professionals.
The goals of the college of nursing are to produce graduates who are agents of positive social change and practitioners who are reflective and scholar. The purpose relates to a successful psychiatric nurse practitioner. Another goal is to offer its programs via a diverse process-learning strategy, all geared towards the integrity and quality of the outcomes. The college purposes of providing multi contextual educational prospects for career learners (College of Nursing | Walden University, 2020). Such goals are a recipient for scholar-practitioner that I am purposing to become. On social change, the college provides insights, knowledge, and all the connection that a student would require to affect the real-life changes that voiceless and powerless people may affect the move alone.
Professional and Academic Goals
Academically, I purpose to achieve the necessary knowledge to offer a wide range of psychiatric services like evaluations and treatment. Such services will include psychopharmacological involvements and therapy for groups, individuals, or families. Professionally, after graduation, I have a wide array of things I wish to pursue. The first goal I want to master a good understanding of effective and proper ways to develop a cross-disciplinary and holistic approach towards treatment plans. I also want to develop the advanced skills to help me balance both intricate and medical psychobiology issues for psychiatric persons. Thus, my goal will be to assist families, children, and adolescents in developing the required skills to enhance their mental health and manage existing challenges that may directly influence their lives. Therefore, I believe that the nursing college will make the best out of me. Through its goal of producing a reflective and scholarly physician as well as an agent of constructive social change in the community.
Information Resources
Confidently, I believe that the support that I interact with from curricula to other social resources have the relevant information that I need to achieve my goals. Educational wise, the available materials have all the courses and specific areas of study that I am currently pursuing. As a scholar-practitioner, the purposes and educational materials that the center has been holistic and up-to-date. The learning materials address the current trends in medical and widely recognized policies that the health industry recommends (College of Nursing | Walden University, 2020). Syllabus and curricula are approved by the relevant regulatory bodies, which gives me confidence that by the end of my masters, I will have achieved my professional and educational goals.
Networking
Social and professional networking is an important aspect that I would leverage as I advance my goals. Academically, there are mentors and fellow students in the same field who will be my closed networks. Through such systems, my quest for being a holistic and exemplary practitioner will be achieved (Anders, 2018). Professionally, according to Schmidt (2017), one needs to engage with persons who would yield a professional connection based on interactions that involve mutual professional development and knowledge sharing.
