Introduction
Volunteering is described as an activity that is unpaid where an individual offers their time to help a non-profiting organization or an individual who they have no relationship with them. Having volunteers working in your non-profit agency is important because they help in saving money, increase contac with the whi=ole society, provision of better services to clients and reduction in the cost of offering services to clients since volunteers are not paid for their services( Drucker, 2012). Volunteers aid in fundraising, help in spreading the mission of the organization, and administrative task.Volunteering in a non-profit organization is vital sonce it helps the volunteer to learn new skills and improve the ones in existence, such as cooperating with other workers.
How would YOU utilize volunteers in YOUR ideal non-profit agency?
Volunteers can be utilized in my ideal non-profit agency by giving them the first chances to offer services to the clients. Through this process of their service delivery, our staff members can be performing other activities such as attending summits. The volunteers can be utilized by sending them together with our members to advertise our products on our behalf.
Why are volunteer hours important to agencies and the community?
Volunteering hours are important to agencies and the community because it provides the volunteers with an opportunity of becoming active members of their community, which results in along lasting, impact on the society as a whole. This hours also enables the volunteers to acquire knowledge and life skills . Volunteering creates an opportunity for volunteers to connect with the organization, making it a better palce.Volunteering helps in expanding the network of the agency.
How would you recruit and retain volunteers?
A nonprofit agency needs to recruit volunteers and maintain them to help them in their services to the community. The non-profiting agency can use various methods of recruiting volunteers ,such as the agency can use its members as agents to ask people to volunteer in their services, teaming up with their employees in creating a list of people whom they think perform their tasks effectively then request them to volunteer. The agency can recruit people who have the desire of being part of the team.
Nonprofits agency can be able to retain their volunteers through the use of several strategies such as, giving volunteers a boost this is a way which can be of help to the volunteers to get a chance of learning new skills, boosting their character and widen their experiences. Showing appreciation is another strategy of retaining volunteers (McBee, 1994). The form of acknowledgment will depend with the agency .verbal types of satisfaction can be used such as saying thank you, and that was a wonderful work, appreciation makes them feel valued, and their urge to volunteer will increase thus retaining them. Similarly, volunteers can be retained through the creation of a relationship with new and old volunteers, making them desire to come back and volunteer.
Conclusion
In conclusion, volunteering is a process of an individual or group offers services for no monetary gain.it is important because it helps in the delivery of services to the clients, reduction in the cost through their volunteering and bettering quality of services delivered to customers. They can be recruited by asking them to volunteer and also creating a list of prospective volunteers.they can be retained by showing them appreciation, providing feedback, and empowering them.
