Gertrude
Gertrude had embarked on becoming a deaconess in the local Methodist Church before changing her interest in mathematics and statistics. Her interests in human consciousness led her to pursue post-graduate studies in psychological statistics. Her earlier preparations into statistics involved Bachelor studies and later masters in statistics (The World of Statistics, 2020).

Statistics Interviews
The two statisticians reviewed were Carrie Grimes and John Allen Paulos. Their background and interests were found from the cited sources.
Carrie Grimes
Carrie is one of Google´s senior staff engineers and initially studied Anthropology/Archaeology. She, however, embarked on the use of statistical analysis while aiming to improve Google´s search engine. She became deeply interested in statistics and studied to become a PhD in statistics. Carrie currently holds the lead role in resource planning, pricing, and management data/software in Technical Infrastructure (Google Research People, 2020). In an interview in 2009, Carrie predicted that statistic would be the “sexy job” in 10 years.
John Allen PaulosPaulos writes about the importance of mathematical literacy. He is a professor at Temple University in Philadelphia. He intends to clarify the misconceptions held around mathematics and statistics. Such intentions have made him a popular speaker on mathematics (Honner, 2020). Paulos has a PhD in mathematics and has written a best-selling book in mathematics and probability named Innumeracy: Mathematical Illiteracy and its Consequences. He advises the interested statistician and mathematician to consider uncertainty merely as the certainty that there is. As such, the statistician must continuously be curious with the unknown (Honner, 2020).
Other Career Interests
Interest in general mathematics could create a career in astronomy, physics, risk analysis and management, empirical research analyst, anthropology and archeology and teaching of mathematical numeracy.
When interested in a career in security and criminology, one might be able to venture in a personal security firm, form a personal protection detail, public policing, criminology, risk analysis and aversion, home security and protection, cyber-crime analyst, criminal attorney (or a general attorney), anti-terror response teams and general public safety and justice.
When aiming to achieve a career in data science, one may become a web developer, Artificial Intelligence expert, business intelligence expert, data analyst, data engineer, applications architect, machine learning scientist, machine learning engineer or a statistician (Eneriz, 2019).
Significant points about the four careers
A statistician earns an average of $84,060 annually. This figure may rise to $133,720 on average for the highest earners and $50,660 for the ones on the lowest percentile. Analysts project that statistics jobs will grow 34% by the year 2026 (Job Hero, 2020). The growth is expected to be faster than growth in any other professions. People interested in statistics should be detail-oriented and knowledgeable in data analysis, publishing and presentation.
Mathematician jobs also require such keen attention to details and logic as statistics. The mathematician may be employed in teaching institutions or as researchers in astronomy, general physics and risk analysis for companies. This job is thereby one that is multidisciplinary and open to diverse interests. Mathematicians earn a median of $105,810 (Forest Time, 2017). Careers in mathematics are, furthermore, consistently and flexibly available throughout the years.
For a career in security and criminology, the interested party requires to be keen on the foundations of criminology and psychology. As individuals and organizations continue to be keen on their safety, these analyst careers continue to gain attention. The person can work in diverse areas including as a criminal lawyer and a police officer.
Lastly, the data scientist is probably the most relevant line of employment in the current digital society. The various job opportunities in data science continue to rise every day as the world continues to wade through the digital world. The median salary of careers in data science currently stands at between $128,750 and $185,000, depending on the level of seniority (University of Wisconsin Data Science, 2018).
Being an effective statistician
To be successful in the statistics career, I will require to improve my foundational statistical knowledge. As such, I will embark on a degree in mathematics and statistics and later a corresponding masters study. Detail-focus and deep curiosity are some of the traits I will need to develop to be a successful statistician. The masters in statistics may cost an excess of $10,000 per year and will be financed by the job I shall seek with my introductory statistics job alongside student loans.
