She also added that "with global events now unfolding very quickly, we've decided to move to full work from home arrangements for Australian-based office staff…”. The retail stores were to remain open, and call center staff remained unaffected.
The evolving situation caused by the pandemic requires decisive action and flexibility in operation were functions that could be carried out remotely, which are considered essential only remained. In this case, it included store and field teams, call centers, among other functions. Procedures and safeguards have been put in place where necessary.

Exposure of some of their employees and fear of infection coupled with safeguarding employee health and safety at work has seen many companies and industries close up and have their employees working from home. This has not spared the telecommunication industry, which had to close up most of their retail stores keeping only essential staff at work. Some of these telecommunications companies include Vodafone, Cisco, ViacomCBS, and JC Decaux, just to mention but a few.
"As a precautionary measure, JC Decaux's York Street office will be closed until the results of the test come back. The business is still operating, with staff working remotely." The company said.
In another incident, Viacom CBS Company also said, "The safety and wellbeing of staff is the company's number one priority. Therefore, as a precaution, ViacomCBS has temporarily closed its Darlinghurst office and instructed all employees to work remotely until further information is available".
The shift to working from home is one way to stop the spread of COVID-19, which is practical and logical and provides protection, builds morale, and creates peace of mind for the workers. With the lockdown in most areas, parents also get the opportunity to take care of their children as schools and daycare centers remain closed.

In the short-term, the economy has been sustained as work continues, and people can still earn a living. Long-term effects may be a permanent shift by some sectors to work from home as the benefits are enormous.
