Introduction
Optima Health offers a range of progressive and flexible services to all health care consumers. The health institution provides strategy and advisory, performance and attendance, risk and compliance and engagement and wellbeing services to customers (Optima Health, 2019). Also, the institution offers specialist mental health services and musculoskeletal health capabilities to all patients. Despite its growth in the market, the company has faced problems with innovation and use of new technologies to offer quality services. The patient management system is slowed, and the communication existing between the health providers is not efficient because of problems with technological development.
The company has a rigid culture where the employees follow strict policies and rules. Each activity has a set of procedures to improve the safety of the patients. The culture in the organization advocates for a teamwork approach in solving most joint problems (Optima Health, 2019). The workers are involved in constant communication and teamwork a fact helping them to improve operational efficiency in the long run. The leaders take long before making decisions because of the strict rules. The problems of innovation originate from the slow decision-making process. The management has been slow in implementing changes related to growth in innovations leading to the use of old technologies in musculoskeletal health services, specialists mental health services and patient management.
The organization has not invested in patient management systems. The system used in management makes the patients stay for long within the facility. The waiting time can be reduced through changing the system leading to better quality. The leaders rarely motivated the workers with promotions and incentives, making their outputs lower in the long-run period. The employees lost the drive of changing to accommodate new processes because of lower follow up by the management. Another area of weakness in the organization that lead to an escalation of the present problems is the leadership style. The leaders are rigid and follow the procedures and rules to implement changes. The rigidity of the leaders makes it hard to enforce policies meant to promote innovation. The research and development department is not funded, making it hard for research practices to thrive in the organization. Optima health employees are professionals with experience, but the training provided to them makes it hard to develop creative solutions to all the organizational constraints. For instance, the patient management system and the communication department have been slow because of lacking innovative solutions in the long run.
The organization can solve most problems it is facing by shifting financial allocation to the research and development department. The department undertakes most innovations through continuous training of the workers on changes in innovation solutions. New technologies come with efficiency in operations and solutions to complex issues. Through training, the workers are enabled to work on issues likely to bring the organization to the ground. The workers have to be trained in ways of developing an appropriate way of managing the patients. Also, they have to be taught how to control the patients through a new patient management system. The IT department has to be equipped with the tools necessary to develop the competency of the employees. Developing their experience assist in adopting to new technological growth by using creative solutions. The leadership has to change by avoiding rigidity in the rule and policies. The policies have to accommodate change and embrace more progress in the long run by continuously training the workers on new technological developments.
