I do not agree based on the in-depth analysis of Samuel Johnson's elegy poem "On the Death of Dr. Robert Levet" that Samuel Johnson's is inappropriate as a formal tribute to Johnson's late friend. Because, from the poem, Johnson project the innate connection with the late rivets and describe him as..."His useful care was ever nigh",(17), this depicts a cordial relationship worth appreciating and paying a formal tribute to. On the other hand, the poem also reveals a comfortable cohabiting with mutual engagements which made Johnson gain the assurance of their relationship. Samuel Johnson's poem "On the Death of Dr. Robert Levet" depicts a scenario that rejoices life but on the other side mourning on the death of Robert Levet. One of the desperate physicians who often offer his services at a fee and resides in one of Johnson's apartments in London takes center stage in the poem revealing the massive tribulations and discomfort in the society.

The poem contains universal concerns which not only focus on Levet and his life but also on the basic aspects of humanity and the general human perspective. Apparently, the poem portrays Johnson at his old age approaching the end of his life which reveals his massive success and prestigious life earned from rewarding talent, yet completely occupied with infection, deficiency, and great personal disappointment which accrued over time. On the other hand, Johnson laments desperately on some frequent occasions following the death of the poor awkward man as a way of unmasking his incompetence's. He seems to beautify Levet at all conditions but at some point expose the weaknesses of such as her high temper considering the adjectives used in line 10, a character which attributed to the saints. These traits as described by Johnson indicate his close relationship with Levet, and it is through these attributes that he decided to eulogies his friend in such a respectful manner. Therefore, it is important to point out the` relevancy of the Johnson poem in paying the tributes to the lost friend.

Also, lauding of Levet behavior introduces analogy which comprises the orientations to life and positive living "Condemned to hope's delusive mine, as on we toil from day to day, "line (1-2) refer to the filthy places in London where the poor sick people resided. Levet usually offers services regardless of the despairing anguish.

Johnson's personal feeling according to the poem is mirrored form her engagement with Left who seems to be a mentor and furthermore a righteous fellow with rewarding talents Johnson has ever seen. In conclusion, it is important to note that mutual relationship which existed between Samuel Levet seem to be the respected fellow in the entire society thus warrant the Johnson tribute as the special gift which resembles. Similarly, the magnitude of her personality, she engages in some social work in the organization aimed at improving the living standards of the people in the community.
