Introduction

Every student is a crucial player in the healthcare project of a school as they are significantly involved in the presentation of the general image. Self-care practices are a vital component in the prevention of infections and the general well-being of an individual (Nevins & Sherman, 2016). These students may experience numerous stressors throughout academic life that affect their ability to care for themselves (Moore & Wilhelm, 2019). The majority of the students who engage in self-care are perceived positively by the people around them. In addition to the neglect of self-care, students being young and immature may lead to them lacking the much-needed experience for such activities (Gordon, 2018).

The purpose of the paper is to discuss the importance of self-care practices knowledge among Saudi students at US Universities and how that influences the prevention of infection in the University Campus (Moses, Bradley, & O'Callaghan, 2016). The literature part of the paper will explore the examples of self-care behaviors in general and how they contribute to preventing infection (Anand, Grover, Kumar, Prabhu, & Ingle, 2018). The review will also determine to what extent the research will be of help to many other people.

General personal hygiene practices include bathing, washing hands, and brushing teeth, among others (Palase, Lopes, Rigney, Walsh-Roche, & Garbarini, 2019). Every day, a person comes into contact with germs and viruses that can linger in the body and lead to sicknesses and infections. However, personal hygiene practices can help prevent such contaminations and enhance better health among students.

Research Questions and Hypothesis

What extent of self-care practices knowledge is available to Saudi students in US universities? - This particular part will describe the level of awareness among the students and how they have been putting the same to use.

What is the necessity of self-care practices in universities in preventing infections - the question will be answered by discussing how personal hygiene helps in preventing infections in the universities

What are some of the self-care practices that students should be aware of? - This will explain the various self-care practices by students, the ones they already know, and those that they do not know. This way, it will help to make recommendations for what campus students should do differently.

Null hypothesis - Saudi students in US universities do not have the knowledge concerning self-care practices that help in preventing infections

The alternative hypothesis - Saudi students in US universities, know about self-care activities that help in preventing infections

Methods

The research design that will be appropriate for the study will be snowball sampling, where we will recruit other participants. The participants (Saudi students) may be challenging to find because they are scarce within the campus premises. We will identify the potential subjects from the campus population where initially we can have one or two people. This way, we will ask these subjects to recruit more people into the study of the same category. We will repeat the steps until we find the needed sample.

The sample size will be the Saudi students, both male and female of age 18 years and over. I will post the survey for recruiting the sample on social media to attract the ideal subjects for the study. Validity is a crucial point for the research as it will determine the appropriate questions to use and help to ensure that the researchers are using the tests that truly measure the issue of importance.

The survey will focus more on content validity, where there will be a systematic examination of the survey content to determine if it covers a representative sample of the domain being measured. It will be crucial to match the degree of the content of the survey with the associated field under construct. There will also be a careful selection of the items that will be included where the choice of the objects needs to comply with the survey specifications drawn up by examination. The students will thus answer the right questions that will lead to better results concerning the knowledge of self-care practices and how they have been of help in preventing infections.

Contribution

The work will significantly contribute to the knowledge base in public health because it will involve recommending the practices for personal hygiene that the public can use. It will also help to ensure that the public refrains from practices that lead to infections such as dirty public toilets, taking street foods from the polluted areas and using public transportation that have them jeopardizing their chances for the viruses (youeh Tsai, Chai, Hsu, & Ou, 2018). This way, a large percentage will avoid eating out at food areas because of the concerns for hygiene products.

The public will acquire more knowledge on the areas that are prone to odor and fungal infection hence keep better hygiene in those areas. Such include smelly feet, smelly breath, hair, and the genital regions, among others. They will be aware of how to wash these areas regularly and dry thoroughly when it is needed.
