Introduction

Is college worth the cost? That is the question many people are facing with after going through college. The society expects that a graduate is absorbed immediately into the job market soon after graduation, but that's never the case. These days it can even take up to 3 years to find a job. With increasing incidents of graduate's being unemployed even after investing a lot of resources has discouraged people from going to colleges. People have given a second thought to colleges because extra curriculum activities pay more than class work. Many talented individuals, e.g., Hollywood actors like Angelina Jolie and sportsmen like LeBron James earn millions of dollars from their talents. This has made people reconsider what type of education is suitable for their children.

Colleges are increasingly becoming unaffordable. Many students end up finishing college with very high debts. These debts are not easy to clear since you are not guaranteed a job and if you are lucky enough to get a job, it will not be well paying. This makes people miss out on college. My perspective of college is different from other people's view. I am of the opinion that going to college has more benefits than not going. This is why. Firstly college is known as an institution of higher learning. This is where skills necessary for an individual to tackle life challenges are acquired. College is where I gained skills and techniques that have been valuable to me so far. After meeting the entry requirements of joining college, I was full of happiness. My parents were proud of me since I have been working all my life to get good grades and join a decent college.

The excellent command of the English language that is emphasized in the debate club has helped me immensely since my career quire me to be articulate and speak fluently.

You get to interact with people who give you a new perspective on how to handle things. This shapes your view of the world you are living in and hence developing yourself. Through networking, I have been able to secure an internship at various companies to help me get the experience needed in my profession. The college has helped me to become a very responsible person. The lecturers used to give us assignment which had deadlines. This instilled in me the discipline of creating a working plan and applying it to completion.

I have become a good time manager and a responsible person. I achieved all of these because of going to college. I was elected the leader of social welfare in our college. This position helped me horn my leadership skills. My responsibilities as a leader were to ensure students' needs are met promptly. I also took part in solving disputes among the students.
