Introduction
In a case study involves a 43 years old white male patient. The man has been suffering from head pain, which started seven years ago after he sustained an accident at the workplace. After conducting several diagnostic tests, the patient realized that the cartilage surrounding his right hip joints has 75% torn. Since then, he has not seen any surgical doctor who can operate him. Additionally, he believes that he is too young for a total hip replacement. After the accident, the patient has continuously experienced various challenges, such as constant pain in the affected part. Due to continuous pain in the leg, the family doctor has been giving the client several treatment approaches such as hydrocodone. Based on the condition of the patient, the man is suffering from complex regional pain disorder.
Application of therapies has become an essential way a patient may use in the treatment of the condition. The process is more effective if it is integrated with drugs such as Savella 12.5 mg orally once daily on a day. On day two and three, the patient may use a 12.5 mg BID. This may be followed by 25 mg BID from day four to seven (Stanton-Hicks, 2018). The patient may also focus on rehabilitation and physical therapy, which assists in ensuring the blood effectively flows in all parts of the body. Since there is a high tendency of suffering from depression and traumatic stress, the patient should also embrace psychotherapy as another mode of treatment (Mancini et al., 2019).
According to Bruehl (2015), complex regional pain disorder is expertly handled by integrating various approaches. The application of rehabilitation and physical therapy offers a good ground where a patient can improve the flexibility, strength, and function of the affected parts. Through the program, a therapist can prevent secondary brain change which occurs due to chronic pain in the affected regions (Stanton-Hicks, 2018). As such, the patient is taught how to learn new approaches which assist in engaging in daily activities.
Due to a lot of pain in the affected part, psychotherapy is highly recommended. According to Duong et al. (2018), psychotherapy assists in treating secondary conditions to give patients a chance to cope and heal from complex regional pain disorder. When a person is depressed, the rehabilitation process tends to be more challenging. There are several classes of drugs which can be used in the treatment of the complex regional pain disorder. The client is supposed to be careful when taking these drugs since they may trigger adverse effects such as dizziness (Mancini et al., 2019).
By deploying the recommendation, I hope to offer the best clinical service which will assist in reducing a long term suffering. Despite the client looking for assistance in various health units, he has not received a service which could help in ending his challenge. Even though there is no specific treatment which can cure a person who is affected by complex regional pain disorder, the application of therapy and drugs can assist in reducing harmful effects (Stanton-Hicks, 2018). In recent years, combining several medicines and pain-relieving drugs has become a simplified treatment approach to a person who is suffering from the disorder (Mancini et al., 2019).
In the past, the client had been encouraged to use other treatment approaches, such as a wheelchair to assist in reducing the condition. These treatments had a great variation with my recommendation. In this case, I believe that complex regional pain disorder is effectively handled through the integration of several approaches. A specific procedure, such as wheelchair would not reduce the kind of pain the client is experiencing.
