Discussion of Personal, Prejudice, and Social Development, Awareness of Differences from the Research
Development of prejudices in children stems from emotional maladjustment and harsh upbringing. They start to develop anger and hatred toward other people in the community for no particular reason. Inter- groups' attitudes and behaviors from the social surrounding especially the kind of relationship that co-exists between their parents influence social development. Mainly, children learn their attitudes to other people by imitating their parents and observing how they talk. It also depends on their level of cognitive character development in the early growth (Hart 2013). Initially, a child is full of perceptual emotions with fear of unknown and attachment to the familiar.
The child grows to understand an individual rather than with an ethnic perspective. Development of personal and social identity starts since the early childhood moments. Many children grow accepting everyone in the community until when they reach a certain age and begin to differentiate characters. They begin to develop emotions such as hatred, love, and anger especially when introduced by their close families and teachers. It increases the level of awareness on how to relate with each people as they develop different feelings attachment. During such time of the year, most of the children start developing the sense of what is good and that which they find not good by their side.
Agreement on Myths Surrounding Children Awareness of Human Difference
There exist many myths about the development of children identity influenced by their parents and professionals such as teachers, which are correct according to my research. Many individuals tend to believe in such myths beyond reasonable doubt. The information I learned agrees with all those myths as many children imitate what their elder mentors practice and how they talk based on the surrounding circumstances and the nature of the environment (Umana 2014). Whenever their parents warn them not to interact with a particular group of people always they obey without questioning.
They are submissive to their teachers and parents as their cognitive behaviors are yet to develop. The awareness of human differences to children is related with the people they interact with and the kind of relationship available. Therefore, many children coexist with others nicely until parents and tutors corrupt their thoughts. Alternatively, some parents teach their children how to hate other people on the ground of race, class, and ethnic backgrounds. They grow disliking certain people for no reason but from their parent's perspective. It affects the human difference awareness among children as they learn how to hate other people without a reasonable case. It also creates hostility especially in public in schools, as some are superior while others are minorities.
Identification and Discussion of Any Stereotypes in the Community and Its Influence to Address the Human Differences
Stereotypes are false beliefs about a specific category of people where many people assume that there are true especially when making decisions. Many white people in the US believe that black Americans are illiterate and engage in illegal activities. It creates a negative image of society and children as they grow to have a lousy attitude towards black people. They also believe that black people are slaves thus do not have a role in the community. It creates diversity even for the children who tend to believe whatever their guardians say.
These observations have a significant impact when addressing the issue of human differences and self- identification, as many people do not accept different ideas. Stereotypes greatly influence how people define human diversity as some belief in the myths and misconceptions. It also affects the relationship existing between children as some develop hatred to others due to their parent's teaching. It is difficult to address and define the issue of self-identification, especially to the younger generations as they already accept the lessons from teachers in school.
Goals to Help Child Identify Themselves and their Support from the Research
In order to support each child's self-identity they should bring along their play objects that symbolize their family composition, language, and ethnicity to aid in learning every child's uniqueness. It is also essential as a preschool teacher to make observations from the family and society itself regarding the child behaviors. As discussed initially, the pre-school teachers play a fundamental role in the overall success of the children given that they try as much as possible to give the necessary requirements that they need to survive. Increasing children co-existence in a classroom through playing together and forming groups which consist all kind of pupil will enhance development identify. It will help to appreciate each other's capabilities thus creating a peaceful environment. I will also ensure that the subjects in class cut across how to relate with one another despite their differences such as race, tribe, and language. It helps to increase the children self-esteem while valuing each other's existence. Importantly, it is advisable to understand the nature of the environment in which each student lives and thrive. Pre-school teacher's needs to design their classes to be responsive to their students while deepening their socio-political history especially to the community members (Murray & Alvarez 2016). Therefore, promoting racial identity involves disrupting the student's thoughts intentionally to eradicate the wrong image from their mind. A teacher should also encourage pupils to take satisfaction in their color identity to increase their self-esteem. Alternatively, they can begin racial awareness through recognizing their potential biases and own race. It helps to improve conversations between the students and teachers about their race.
The Value of Completing the Assignment
Generally, learning and observing children behavior in class is necessary when solving the ethnicity, racial and language differences. It helps to increase awareness of self-identity as many students lack knowledge. Similarly, parents play a large part in promoting ethnicity and racism as they equip their children with bad attitudes towards a particularcommunity. Therefore, they should ensure that they positively enrich their children with appropriate characters to ensure a peaceful coexistence with others. Many children develop together with the attitude and personality they learn and observe from teachers and parents. It makes it hard to change their perspective towards a specific community unless extensive counseling is done at early developmental stages.
